Overview of Dan Lifts Technology PLCCompany status- Private & Ethiopian based

independent firm under the owner of Ato Daniel Mebrahtu G/Egziabher.

Establishment- Dan Technochraft; which is the sister company served as a spring board for the lift company of the owner, Dan Lift Technology.

Company profiles- Dan Lift Technology is the only of its kind in the country engaged in the manufacturing, installation and maintenance of lifts and escalators.

be hub of technology engaged in technology transfer with the view of contributing to the development of essential, appropriate and affordable technology in the country.

Company’s aim is to produce Quality products at competitive prices that exceed customer expectations and enhance customer satisfaction.

programs to fit customers needs, Maintenance, prompt response and lift & escalator modernization.

Customers- most of lifts and escalators in Ethiopia bear Dan logo.

The company has many customers from public, private and non-governmental organizations (NGO).

Explanations about elevators An elevator (lift) is a type of vertical transport of

equipment that efficiently moves people or goods between floors (levels) of a building.

Need for lift in Ethiopia- currently highest buildings are being constructed in the country; so there should be some means of transportation to bring people to the floor they want.

• Testing of electrical components• Inspecting of faults and errors in electrical devices• Maintaining and replacing of damaged components

Electronics laboratory & maintenance

•Inspecting and servicing electric motors•Starting and controlling of motors in machineries •Inspecting and maintaining of machineries; includes mechanical parts of machines

Electrical Machines Maintenance

•Preparing of main lift controller only using wiring diagrams of the systemController

•Estimating and preparing of wires which connects main controller to other parts of the elevator

CHALLENGES & MEASURES Challenges Measures I took

Challenges due to new practical

words of equipments.

•I have learnt new words of materials and equipments that workers frequently used.

Challenges due to workers having high expectation on me regarding practical

experiences.

•Telling them that I have less practical knowledge than them to build their confidence to make them free and open to me.

BENEFITS OF THE INTERNSHIPWhat skills I gained and improved through the

internship?1. Practical skill-My internship period was all about

practical, hands-on experience.2. Theoretical Knowledge- throughout the internship

I was always try to remember theoretical aspects of practical systems & equipments that I actually seeing and touching.

And I was always try to read to upgrade my theoretical knowledge.

3. Interpersonal communication skills- Throughout the internship I strongly develop both listening and speaking skills.

4. Team playing skills- during the internship period as the team playing skills I develop:

internship include decision making, effective problem solving and full delegation.

Trustworthiness and Honesty. Maintaining confidentiality. Dedicated and motivated. Willingness to coach and to be coached. Participation and contribution in the team.7. Entrepreneurship skills-After the completion of the internship I

realize that inventing own small business is the best way to lead a better life rather to be an employer in a company. Is simply being an entrepreneur.

Conclusion & Recommendations Conclusion On the whole, this internship was a useful

experience for me. I have gained new knowledge, skills and met many great people.

I got too many things in this internship for the name of Electromechanical engineering.

Finally, I completed my internship with good impressions and experiences and I can say that this internship was definitely an introduction to the actual work field for me.

CONT… Recommendations Having less safety devices for the workers like shoe and cloths,

extensive over duty of workers, luck of cleanliness of the shop and poor safety planning are basic problems that I observed in the company. So I would like to recommend the company to create safe working environment in the production shops by doing the following things:

Effective planning for safety such as providing adequate ventilation, sufficient working area to the operator, clear pathways for movement of materials and parts

The company should providing both enough “safety first” knowledge and safety materials for the workers.

The company should create clean and attractive work place for better production of products and should give shift duties for workers to overcome extensive over duty of workers.
