Juniors: Abigail von Bose & Gabriel Hale Seniors: Lauren Kelly & Michael Swan

MONDAY MAKE-UP DAYS (Bell schedule listed below) We will hold four Monday Make-up Days this school year: October 21, December 16, March 2, and May 4. On these days students will be released at 1:10pm to go to their classes and visit with teachers regarding missing assignments, grades, etc. Releasing students at this time should also allow our bus students an opportunity to meet with teachers before catching their buses. Buses

will run on their regular Monday schedule. If parents would like to meet with teachers we encourage they visit after 2:10pm, allowing students to be helped first. Teachers will be available until 2:45pm. If you have questions regarding Monday Make-up Days, please contact the school at 801-794-6740.

ACT TEST FOR JUNIOR STUDENTS

On Tuesday, March 10th the ACT will be administered to all Junior students at MMHS. Sophomore and Senior students will not need to attend on this day. For students who eat school breakfast and/or lunch, breakfast only will be served. Buses will run for bus students and pick-up will be around 12:15-12:30pm.

Juniors will need to bring with them a no.2 pencil and an approved calculator if they wish to use one for the math portion of the test. All of the problems on the math test can be solved without the use of a calculator.

This year’s test does not include the writing section. Most students will be using chrome books for testing. The school has a limited number of computer

mice available so if you would like to have a mouse to use with the chrome book you may bring one with you. Testing will begin promptly at 7:50 so please be on time. A list of room assignments will be posted by

the Counseling Office and Library. Testing will take approximately four hours and buses will arrive to pick up students at 12:30.

For a free guide to help prepare you to take the test online visit https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/state-and-district-solutions/act-info-for-examinees.html

Cell phones, smart watches, or any other electronic device that can connect to the internet are not allowed to be used at any time during the test, including breaks. Please make arrangements to leave these items at home on test day.

Driver Education Summer classes are now available for registration. Registration is now done online. Go to https://sites.google.com/nebo.edu/mmhs-driver-education/home for more information and to register. The March Driver Education class will start on Monday, March 9th at 6:00 AM in room E-202. Class will be held every school day from Monday, March 9th until Tuesday, March 31st from 6:00 – 7:30 AM in room E-202. Usually, our first class is the parent meeting. However, in order to more easily accommodate the Zero Fatalities presentation, the parent meeting will not be held until Thursday, April 2nd at 7:00 PM in the MMHS auditorium. Students will still be required to attend the parent meeting as it is their last class and are encouraged to bring at least one parent. The meeting will last until about 8:00 PM. For those enrolled in the class, we will start each morning at 6:00 AM. Don’t be late. Bring your permit and something to write with on Monday, the 9th. Enter through the doors to the right of the flag pole, (by the cafeteria), go down the “E” hallway, and up the stairs to room E-202.

Zero Fatalities

The Zero Fatalities group from Salt Lake City will be here for their monthly presentation to the driver education students and parents. This presentation is required for students, but is open to the general public. Anyone is welcome to attend. It is a great presentation that all adults and teens can benefit from. It will be held on Thursday, April 2nd in the MMHS Auditorium. It begins at 7:00 PM and will end about 8:00 PM.

DRILL TEAM TRY-OUTS There will be a meeting for all girls interested in trying out for the 2020-21 Ellevés Drill Team on Tuesday, March 3 at 3 p.m. in the MMHS team room. Important information regarding tryouts and the tryout packet will be given out at this meeting. Come find out everything you need to know for tryouts! If you cannot attend the meeting or have any questions, please contact Coach Molly Brenchley.

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

Parents: If you leave a message to excuse your student on our attendance voicemail system, be sure to check your student’s SIS account 24 hours after your call to ensure the

absence has been excused. (It takes 24 hours for SIS to reflect absences that have been excused.) Sometimes voicemail messages are unclear or not audible, resulting in the student’s absence not being excused. That is why it is so important for parents and

students to be proactive in checking SIS to confirm absences have been taken care of. Please contact our attendance office if you have questions or concerns regarding this process. Thank you!

SHETECH EXPLORER DAY Registration is open for the SheTech Explorer Day on April 15. Help your girls discover careers in STEM! They'll get hands-on experience with dozens of STEM jobs, work with mentors from hundreds of tech companies. Our students won the mentor challenge last year out of hundreds of girls so we're ready to win again! Find out about workshops and registration online at http://shetechexplorer.com/register/. The best workshops fill up quickly so register ASAP! There is no cost, lunch is provided, and we will provide a bus to and from the event. For questions, please ask Mrs. Robyn Dunn in C100 or at [email protected]. CAREER DAY -- CALLING PRESENTERS! We are excited to announce that we will be having our school-wide Career Day on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. We will be on assembly schedule that day and our Career Day will go from approximately 9:00-10:00 a.m. The presentations will be in the classrooms and will last 25 minutes. Students will have the opportunity to choose two speakers from the list provided to them that day. We will have a wide variety of careers and hope that your student will take advantage of this opportunity to listen to these professionals. Our presenters are volunteering their time and we appreciate their efforts. Speaking of presenters, we are in need of more speakers! If you would be willing to speak to our students about your career during our Career Day, we would love to invite parents to participate. In keeping with the Utah State Board of Education's "Step Up to Higher Education" program, we are looking for careers that require “1, 2, 4 or more” years of training, certification or formal education after high school. For more information, please contact Robyn Dunn at [email protected]. We will also have a mini-career fair during lunch with approximately 20 vendors available for students to visit with. Vendors will include cosmetology schools, military recruiters, MATC, ALC, and local companies who will be hiring students for summer work. If your company would like to set up a booth to recruit for summer employment, please let Mrs. Dunn know. There is no booth rental fee. MORP Dance MORP 2020 will be Friday, March 27th from 7:30-10:30pm here at MMHS. This dance is girls’ choice. The theme is HOLLYWOOD so come dressed up as your favorite movie stars. $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Get your dates today and come walk the red carpet with us! (Sponsored by MMHS Dance Co)
