PPCT Spontaneous Knife Defense Instructor and Ground
Avoidance Ground Escape Instructor
Date: December 28‐31, 2015
Time: 8:00 a.m. –5:00 p.m.
Location: Shudo Kan Karate Club, 1453 North Bradfordton Rd, Springfield, IL
Cost: $300.00 per student (manuals are required for the course, students needing new manuals will need to pay an
additional $25.00 per manual) This is a tuition course for all registrants, regardless of MTU membership status.
COURSE IS LIMITED TO 24 STUDENTS EARLY REGISTRATION IS STRONGLY SUGGESTED.
Course Instructor: Mark Bridges, Bridges Law Enforcement Training and Consulting.
Mark Bridges retired as a Lieutenant from Springfield Police Officer after 26 years. His assignments included SWAT,
Neighborhood Policing, Academy Director, Mobile Field Force Commander, and Operations Section Chief for the Illinois
Incident Management Team, Mark has been a PPCT Defensive Tactics Instructor for 28 years and is certified as an
instructor in many “use of force” programs. He has taught a great many courses for Mobile Team Unit #10 since 1988.
Course Overview:
Students who successfully complete this course will receive instructor certificates in PPCT Spontaneous Knife Defense
and PPCT Ground Avoidance and Ground Escape.
The Ground Avoidance Ground Escape Instructor program is designed to teach officers how avoid being taken to the
ground and how to effectively escape if the subject is successful in grounding the officer. The student officer will learn
proper technique for teaching fellow officers the GAGE program.
The Spontaneous Knife Defense Instructor program is designed to teach officers the means to successfully defend
against edged weapon assaults, which includes limitations and capabilities, principles of edged weapons assaults,
fundamentals of knife martial arts and the knife defense system. The student officer will learn proper technique for
teaching fellow officers the SKD program.

through the website at www.letac.org or call 217‐726‐7014 to register by phone (be sure to include all pertinent
information). MTU #10 local member department officers will be given registration preference until seven days prior to
the date of class. After that date, registrations will be taken on a first‐come, first‐served basis, regardless of MTU status.
We cannot accept registrations from individual officers. All registrations must go through your Chief, Sheriff, or
department training office, even if you are attending class on your own time.

Cancellation: If a class must be canceled for any reason, every effort will be made to do so at least 2 weeks before the
class is scheduled to begin. However, there are circumstances where last minute cancellation is out of our control. All
officers who have been registered for training will be contacted at the email address given at registration, so please be
sure to provide an email address which is checked often.
