But the cancer story is changing ...But the cancer story is changing...

But the cancer story is changing ......more people are living with and beyond cancer than ever before, due to earlier diagnosis and better treatment.

In the UK:

• More than 750,000 people of working age are living with cancer

• Around 500,000 carers of people with cancer work full or part-time

• 82% of people think it’s important to continue to work

• However, 47% had no choice but to give up work or change their roles as a result of their diagnosis.

This means we need to shift the way we think about survival and life after cancer, especially in the workplace.

Right now, or some time soon, you are going to have to deal with cancer at work.

That’s where we come in.

Macmillan at Work is here to help you prepare for and manage the impact of cancer at work. We know just what an important part an employer plays. People with cancer face challenges that will impact their working life,but you can take positive steps to smooth the way.

You may have to make changes. Managers and colleagues might need supporting too. And people aren’t always Comfortable around cancer. We can help you. Our expertise is in workplace training, guidance and resources.
