2 GettingStarted

Installationandserviceofthisapplianceshouldbeperformedbyqualifiedpersonnel.Hearth&HomeTechnologies suggestsNFI certified or factorytrainedprofessionals,ortechnicianssupervisedbyanNFIcertifiedprofessional(www.nficertified.org).

A. DesignandInstallationConsiderationsHeat&Glodirect vent gasappliancesaredesigned tooperatewithallcombustionairsiphonedfromoutsideofthebuildingandallexhaustgasesexpelledtotheoutside.Noadditionaloutsideairsourceisrequired.InstallationMUSTcomplywith local,regional,stateandnationalcodesandregulations.Consultinsurancecarrier,localbuildinginspector,fireofficialsorauthoritieshavingjurisdiction over restrictions, installation inspection andpermits.Beforeinstalling,determinethefollowing:• Wheretheapplianceistobeinstalled.• Theventsystemconfigurationtobeused.• Gassupplypiping.• Electricalwiringrequirements.• Framingandfinishingdetails.• Whetheroptionalaccessories—devicessuchasawallswitchorremotecontrol—aredesired.

C. Inspect Appliance and Components• Carefullyremovetheapplianceandcomponentsfromthepackaging.

• Theventsystemcomponentsanddecorativedoorsandfrontsmaybeshippedinseparatepackages.

• If packaged separately, themedia, refractory, and/oroptionallogkitsmustbeinstalled.

• Reporttoyourdealeranypartsdamagedinshipment,particularlytheconditionoftheglass.

• Readalloftheinstructionsbeforestartingtheinstal-lation.Followtheseinstructionscarefullyduringtheinstallationtoensuremaximumsafetyandbenefit.

9. Place the glass frame assembly back on theappliance according to the instructions provided intheapplianceinstallationmanual.Assurethatthereisnomediabetweentheglassandthefirebox.Mediainthisareawillpreventtheglassgasketfromsealing.

10. Install bottom glass trim between glass and glassframe.SeeFigure8.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Aftertheinitialstartupburn,itmaybenecessarytoadjustthemediaplacementtoachievethebestflameappearance.Whileflameheightvariationisnormal,theremayappeartobehigherpeaksinsomeareasandlowflamepeaksinotherareas.

Iftheflameheightappearstobeexcessivelyhighinsomespots, applyingmoremedia to these areas on top of theburnerwillhelpevenouttheflames.Spreadingthemediaasevenlyaspossible is themosteffectivewaytoachieveoptimalflameappearanceandthemostevenflameheights.One or more test burns may be required to watch theflamesmatureandseehoweventhey lookbeforemakingadjustments.

Avoidusingmediapieceslargerthantwoinchesindiameter,thesecanbedisruptivetotheflamepatterns.Ifyoufindexralargemediapieces,discard.
