Background

In early 2015 Microsoft Italia and Fondazione Cariplo entrusted to Techgarage the realization of an initiative aimed at promoting the culture of enterprise in secondary schools.

After a scouting and training tour, implemented in secondary schools with the support of Barcamper and Aulab, Techgarage selected 20 teams of young and brilliant aspiring entrepreneurs to enter the path outlined in this document

Overview

3 days events

They will be supported by a pool of experienced mentors who will help to develop the business ideas by educating them to think critically, learn through connections, create knowledge and understand how to develop the right agile approach in a digitally age.

40 TEEN digital enthusiatics and aspiring entrepreneurs come together to share ideas, create teams, build products and learn how to launch a disruptive idea on a global market.

The presence of a panel of “shark” investors, directly involved from the international reality tv series Shark Tank, will inspire attendees through keynotes, hands-on support and training sessions.

Overview

The last day the teams will “enter into the tank” and present their idea to the “sharks” in an engaging pitching challenge.

During the 3 days, a mix of visionary keynotes held by harbingers, panel debates and hardtalk interviews will challenge the audience to embrace changes of our global connected future.

Giffoni Experience is the most important cultural event of the world dedicated to young people which every year involves an audience of over 350.000 viewers and brings in Giffoni more than 5.000 kids from 51 countries.

Giffoni is also a cultural and entertainment enterprise which is one of a kind and unique, different from any other Cultural event both in Italy and abroad.

Its diversity stems from the idea of evolution and the need of continuous innovation.

Giffoni Innovation Hub is the accelerator of projects, startups, and formats related to the world of arts, culture and digital.

It wants to stimulate and promote creativity and the cultural exchange of young talents in their development of artistic and innovative ideas within national and international creative and digital industries.

Through the Giffoni brand, an established network of international relations, as a major player in the digital arena, Giffoni Innovation Hub communicates with institutions and companies, movie studios and record labels, cultural operators, universities, and entrepreneurs.

Gianluca Dettoriis the founder and president of dPixel an italian Venture Capital Firm. He has been working on the Internet for 20 years and on Venture Capital for the last 15 years. In 1999 Gianluca founded Vitaminic, a platform for digital music distribution, holding the position of Chief Executive Officer and taking it to the listing on the Nuovo Mercato Stock Exchange (part of the Italian Stock Exchange) in 2000. In the last 10 years, Gianluca has personally followed over 10 startups in the digital industry and medical, first as Angel Investor and then as dPixel partner.

Fabio Cannavaleis the founder and chairman at Bravofly RumboGroup. In 2004, he co-founded Volagratis.com and has been Chairman of the Group since then.He started his career as a consultant at T. Kearney McKinsey & C. since 1996 year in which he launched The Floating Village in Venezuela, an innovative concept of holiday village located on boats.He also co-founded and was member of the management team of eDreams Italy.Passionate about digital and travel he follows the Italian Startup Scene as stakeholder of the major Italian seed capital firms: dPixel, H-farm, Club Italia and Digital Magic.

Giampietro Vigorellistarted his career in 1994 as Creative Director for Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising.During these years he has created some of the most significant and memorable ad campaigns.He was Vice President and Creative Director of D'Adda, Lorenzini, Vigorelli, BBDO since 2010.Now Giampietro curates the promotion of new brand both in Italy and abroad.He is proudly Jake La Furia’s father: Italian rapper, writer, disc jockey and beatmaker from Club Dogo Dogo Gang.

Luciano Bonettiis the chairman of FOPPAPEDRETTI spa. He started his career in this Company as Commercial Director in 1976.Holds a degree in Eletronic Engeeniring from the Politecnico di Milano. Passionate about golf and volley, he is chairman of Volley BERGAMO, a women's volley team playing in A1.

Mariarita CostanzaIs the co-founder and CTO AT MAC-&NIL Zucchetti Group. She started her career facing a big challenge with her husband Nicola Lavenuta: set up a ICT Company in Gravina, a place far from the Italian business innovation and technology area (such as Milan).Today Mac-&NIL is the first fleet management company in Italy and was acquired in June 2014 by Zucchetti Group.

The format

Day #1 Afternoon – 20 July 2015

Pitch the ideasThe 20 team, selected from Stratup RRTour present their projects to the mentors.

Learn how to pitchPitching is a social activity, and exercises allow the team to put these strategies into action and receive feedback from people and mentors

DemolishingThe teams have the first direct confrontation with the "sharks” during a pitching demolition session in which each sharks task is to undermine the founders, identifying the weak part of the business idea, presentation style, attitudes, etc.

Day #2 Morning – 21 July 2015

RefittingThe demolition time, although is a dramatic segment of the event, is useful to “rebuild from the ruins” and get a new energy from the feedback received by the sharks.Another long teamwork session is scheduled with the support of mentors and coaches. To complete the rebuilding process, teams will benefit from a testimony by a successful entrepreneur regarding the real meaning of "fail to succeed"

StrengtheningTeams meet up to prepare the final pitch and train themselves for the final 5 minutes presentation.

The format

Day #2 Afternoon – 21 July 2015

TeamworkingThe teams meet up to set a plan of action for the rest of the day, discuss about the suggestion of the sharks, and walk through the concrete development of their product presentation. During the teamwork teams interact constantly with the mentor who discuss feedback and provide hands-on support.

Pitching sessionTeams present their pitch to Sharks and mentors who select the 10 teams for the final day.

Day #3 Morning– 22 July 2015

FINAL STAGE: TECHGARAGEEverything is ready for the final confrontation with the “sharks”. Each team enters “into the tank” and presents a 5 minutes pitch to the “shark”. The "sharks” can find weaknesses and faults in presenter's concept, product, business model or they can be convinced of the goodness of a project and decide the final winners of the challenge.

The Location

Palazzo Federico II Located in Borgo di Terravecchia

Since 2000, it has been considered to be among one of the area’s greatest monuments of historical interest. Opened in 2011 to the public, the complex covers 700 square meters, with a courtyard of 300 square meters, that is ideal for film locations hosted both indoor and outdoor. For years, the site has been used to host social events and conferences, in particular for young people from Europe and the Mediterranean.
