These tips can assist you in being a better photographer for yourself. Don't miss that magic

moment by making unnecessary mistakes with your images.

Tips For Successfully Capturing A Great Photograph

If the sky looks overcast, minimize its appearance in your picture. If too much gray sky is in

your picture, it will look muted and bland. A black and white photo might work best if you

have to shoot an overcast sky. If it is a nice day outside, put as much of the blue sky in your

pictures as you would like, but be careful with the lighting.

Create depth when you shoot landscapes. Give an idea of the scale by including a subject

somewhere in the foreground. When you set your camera with a small aperture, no more

than f/8 and no more than f/16, you will get a clearer picture.

Be vigilant about charging your batteries, as missing a great shot due to dead batteries would

not be cool. Digital cameras using an LCD screen require lots of power, so check the

batteries before you need to take pictures. Another great idea would be carry an extra set of

batteries for the camera so you don't miss your shot.

Adjusting the white balance setting of your camera to a proper level makes a lot of sense if

you are shooting inside with fluorescent lights. Because fluorescent light tends to be greenish

or bluish, it may cause your photos to look cold. Adjusting the red tones on your camera will

remedy this situation.

Use people as subjects for your photos. Of course, it is recommended to request permission

first before snapping pictures. Shots of people will stand out and help you remember great

traveling experiences. What you should look for is casual clothing and candid expressions.

If you don't know a model, try to make them feel as comfortable with you as possible. Many

people have an instinctive negative reaction to someone taking their picture. If you approach

potential subjects as friends and confidantes, they will be far more likely to cooperate. People

should know that it's art and not a privacy invasion.

When setting up a scene to be photographed, you must choose between emphasizing the

subject's highlights or shadows. However, it's possible to take two pictures of your subject,

one exposing each, and use a program such as Photoshop to blend the two pictures into one

perfect photograph.

Keep in mind how intimidating it can be to have all eyes focused on you as a model, so help

your model to feel comfortable with you by creating a relaxed atmosphere. Many people view

having their pictures taken as something that could be threatening. You can ease their

reluctance by engaging them in a friendly conversation and asking permission to photograph

them. Turn people onto the idea that photography is a form of art, rather than a form of

predation.

As you prepare to photograph different landscapes, you should remember that your pictures

should use three important elements. These include the foreground, mid-ground and

background of the image. These are fundamentals of photography as well as many other art

forms.

Now, you must start taking some practice shots. In no time at all, you will notice a difference

and produce quality photos.
