We have been busy harvesting our summer plantings.
The kids served the folks on September 29 Curried Green Tomatoes, Chips & Salsa, and Cookies. We had then make out name cards and then assigned them a seat. All the tomatoes and green peppers were grown in our community garden.
For October:
Oct 6-- Indoor Scavenger Hunt.....work on problem solving Oct 13-- Celebration of the APPLE (play Apples to Apples junior) Oct 20-- TBD Oct 27-- Harry Potter Day!! Kids can dress up if they wish and we will be making and serving BUTTER BEER ( nonalcoholic beverage)

We covenant together to operate our kitchen in the most environmentally-friendly way possible. Together we will work to:
· Recycle
· Use environmentally-friendly cleaning supplies
· Avoid all single-use plastic and paper
· Compost leftover vegetable matter
· Avoid purchasing items in single-use packaging
· Use fair trade products
We will gently remind one another of this covenant with the hope of helping all to become more environmentally-friendly in their practices.
We’re hoping to get feedback on whether this draft needs to be amended and thoughts about adopting it. Please give feedback to

Help with Sunday Morning wantedThe worship/music committee is looking for those interested in becoming worship assistants who could help with Sunday services. Training can be arranged and participation does not obligate you to attend worship/music committee meetings.

Michigan Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Network (MUUSJN)NORTHERN MICHIGAN JUSTICE ORGANIZER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Qualifications:B.A. degree (or its equivalent) required; experience in organizing justice projects strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively; strong computer and social media skills; good writing and public speaking skills. Must be willing to attend some evening or weekend meetings; need valid driver’s license and ability to travel to meetings. Passionate about working for justice; legislative advocacy skills a plus. Preference for people from diverse backgrounds. Supports the principles of Unitarian Universalism and shows respect for people from various faith traditions.
Responsibilities:1. In coordination with the MUUSJN Director and other consultants, would provide support for MUUSJN
priority justice activities related to economic justice, LGBTQ rights, reproductive and economic justice, racial justice, environmental and water justice, voter engagement and GOTV activities and violence prevention actions in Northern Michigan.
2. Provide support for justice leaders of UU congregations in the following communities: Houghton, Marquette, Escanaba, Petoskey, Traverse City, Muskegon, Ludington, Mt. Pleasant and Midland;
3. Regularly post information via MUUSJN Facebook pages and other social media to inform the public about project related issues and activities and mobilize Northern Michigan participation in project activities;
4. Organize Unitarian Universalists and other people of faith to communicate with elected officials regarding policies that pertain to MUUSJN issue priorities;
5. Recruit UU’s and other allies to sign up for MUUSJN action alerts and to become members of the Network. Promptly forward this membership and action alert sign up information to the MUUSJN Director;
6. Help promote awareness of project activities by using social media, writing news releases, making presentations to faith and/or community groups, and helping organize trainings and workshops;
7. Assist the Director to plan for and generate funding for project activities, e.g., via fund-raising events or crowd funding activities;
8. Submit reimbursement requests to the Director no later than the 5th of each month;
12. Other duties as may be identified by the MUUSJN Director.

The League of Women Voters of Michigan supported Proposal 3, "Promote the Vote", which was passed
by the voters in the November, 2018 election. This proposal ensures that every eligible person can vote and that every vote will be counted. It safeguards our elections with audits and more accurate voting lists, and removes barriers that can make it harder for citizens to fulfill their responsibility to vote. This constitutional amendment will:
• Protect the right to vote a secret ballot
• Ensure military service members and overseas voters get their ballots in time for their votes to count
• Provide voters with the option to vote straight party • Automatically register citizens to vote at the Secretary of State’s office unless the citizen
declines • Allow a citizen to register to vote anytime with proof of residency
• Provide all registered voters access to an absentee ballot for any reason • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of elections by auditing election results
The ACLU of Michigan has published a comprehensive "Know Your Voting Rights Guide" since Proposal 3 was adopted. The Guide provides answers to many questions about how to register and how to vote.

While our cast is filling in nicely, we could still use a few more cast members, returning and new. Please be in touch if you are interested in being involved
