Ano ang Pagpupuri?

Hebrew word for “Praise” is YADAH, meaning “praise, give thanks or confess”

A second word often translated “praise” in the Old Testament is ZAMAR, “sing praise.”

A third word translated “praise” is HALAL (the root of hallelujah), meaning “to praise, honor, or commend.”

All three terms contain the idea of giving thanks and honor to one who is worthy of praise.

Page 8: Halina’t Purihin ang Dios!.pptx

The word comes from the Latin PRETIUM, "price" or "value" and may be defined generally as an ascription of value or worth.

Praise according to Webster is to speak well of, to extol the virtues of, to magnify. It comes from the same root word to APPRAISE

Bakit tayo Nagpupuri?Because of Who He is

Because of What He did

Holiness-The state of being holy; purity or integrity of moral character; freedom from sin; sanctity. Applied to the Supreme Being, holiness denotes perfect purity or integrity of moral character, one of his essential attributes.Righteousness- Latin word is RECTUS-to stretch in geometry straight line not crooked (baluktot). Nothing is wrong and according to God’s will

Justice-The virtue which consists in giving to every one what is his due; practical conformity to the laws and to principles of rectitude in the dealings of men with each other; honesty; integrity in commerce or mutual intercourse. Regular; orderly; due; suitable. In a moral sense, upright; honest; having principles of rectitude; or conforming exactly to the laws, and to principles of rectitude in social conduct; equitable in the distribution of justice; as a just judge.

Revelation-to reveal. The book of Revelation reveals the what will happen in the future. The Father always wants the best for His children. So when we begin to wander from the center of His will, He acts to recapture our attention and protect us from harm. If necessary, God will move heaven and earth to show us His will

Compassionate- Having a temper or disposition to pity; inclined to show mercy; merciful; having a heart that is tender, and easily moved by the distresses, sufferings, wants and infirmities of others.Gracious- Favorable; kind; friendly, benevolent; merciful; disposed to forgive offenses and impart unmerited blessings.Verse 11 shows how God demonstrate His Character. like the height of the heavens above the earth.” The heavens - the starry heavens - are the highest objects of which we have any knowledge; and hence, the comparison is used to denote the great mercy of God - meaning that it is as great as can be conceived; that there is nothing beyond it; that we cannot imagine that it could be greater - as we can imagine nothing higher than the heavens.Sovereign- Supreme in power; possessing supreme dominion; as a sovereign ruler of the universe. superior to all others; chief, one who possesses the highest authority without control.

And forget not all his benefits - Any of his favors. This refers not to those favors generally and particularlyVerse 3- shows the definite benefit God shows us Forgiveness and HealingProtection- defense or preservation from evil, harm, injury or loss

Page 14: Halina’t Purihin ang Dios!.pptx

Provision- to supply our needs. God supplies our needs by doing our part!

He has not punished us for all our sins, nor does he deal with us as we deserve.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. No matter how provoking our sins maybe and yet His mercy surpasses His anger

Who He is and What He’s done are many times are interchangeably used

Because Character breeds Action

Action comes from our Character
