GM intercooler install guide.

This guide is to help you layout and install your Trick Intercooler kit. This is a guide and some shops and

customers choose to install the product differently to fit their install. Be sure to leave all clamps loose

until the end of the install. Tightening too soon will make the install more difficult.

o Install the intercooler core. Remove the grill, the transmission cooler and any sensors

that are in the front of your “A” frame core support. [And the plastic skid plate from the

bottom of the truck]. Install the supplied 90 brackets on to the top of the core. Leave the bolt

loose so you can move them while installing the core. The intercooler will rest against the “A”

and be (center). Lift the core as high as possible, so your brackets will not go any higher

against the latch support. The top of the core will be just slightly below the hood latch. Use

the supplied self-tapper bolt to hold the intercooler in place. These bolts work well to hold

the Intercooler up. More bolts can be used for your comfort and for how you will use your

vehicle. WARNING!!!! Drilling through the latch support to attach more bolts with a drill can

cause you to slip and damage the AC condenser on the other side.

SO BE VERY CAREFULL AND USE A PIECE OF VACUUM LINE OVER THE DRILL BIT TO ACT AS A

STOP.

o Turbo Rotation. Loosen the compressor bolts so you can rotate the cover as in the pic. The turbo

discharge will be aiming as in the pic. Snug the bolts back to factory torque spec.

o Install 90 degree silicone coupler and 2 t-bolt clamps. Depending on turbo selection this could

be a 2.5”x 2.5”, 2.5” x 3.0”, or a 3.0” x 3.0” 90degree silicone, as seen in the picture above.

o The 90 degree aluminum tubing with shortest leg is next. The long leg will be aiming down

towards the ground.

o And now you will need a straight silicone coupler and 2 more clamps and 1) 45 degree

aluminum tubing, as seen in the pic above. You can see the 45’ tubing at the bottom of the

picture.

o Now looking up from the bottom of vehicle, you can see the 45 degree aluminum tubing that

connected to the straight couple. You will connect a 90 degree silicone to end of the 45

aluminum tubing with 2 more clamps. This Silicone wraps around the frame support cross bar.

Then use the straight short piece of aluinuming and a 45 degree silicone couple that will

connect to the intercooler. 2 more clamps will be needed.

Moving to the drivers’ side of the inter cooler install.

o Install another 45 degree silicone coupler. Depending on core selection this could be 2.5” x 3.0”

or a 3.0” x 3.0” with 2 clamps

o Install short piece of aluminum tubing with BOV flange, the 90 degree silicone coupler and 2

more clamps. Aim the BOV flange towards the passenger side of the vehicle.

o Install the 3” 45 degree aluminum tubing long leg towards the intercooler.

o Install the transition straight coupler from 45 degree pipe to stock maf sensor. This coupler is a

snug fit to the metal ring on the mass air meter. Install the mass air meter and 2 more clamps.

o Install the transition coupler from mass air outlet to the throttle body tube and 2 more clamps.

o Install the large throttle body tube. Long leg will point towards the mass air meter.

o Install the largest transition coupler on the throttle body with 2 more clamps.

TIGHTEN ALL CLAMPS, SNUG. NO NEED TO OVER TIGHTEN.

Install the BOV
