SemioticsSemiotics is how a piece of media is read by the audience, from a newspaper article title to a game poster. These pieces of media normally cause an emotional response for the reader and can be read very differently depending on the person.

An example of this in the last of us is a good example of this because it is read very differently to the game Just dance via the situations you are placed to when in the game.In the last of us there is a lot of violence and so can be read as good or bad depending on the person. Just dance can be interpreted the same but for the reason they might not think the game looks good to play.

Content

An example of this n The last of us. The game consists of a lot of violence, blood and a very dark theme, with music normally being very atmospheric to match the lighting and scene. The text is also very different and revolves around a heavy story

Content is what the media actually consists of, this includes speech, art, gameplay and narrative. In games there is a lot of individual content that varies in every game.

Just dance has a very different list of content. This includes bright colour, a positive scenario and a lot of music. These help the game be very friendly and made for a range of people

Construction

In the last o us, each level is completed by making your way through the area killing certain enemies and finding certain items. Throughout this level you will trigger events to complete your task and move on.

Construction is based around how the game is put together and the narrative. It consists of the layer and the structure of a piece of media, and how each event is pieced together.

Just dance has a very different construction system as it does not have a story line but has a level up system, dancing and motion.
