Florence,May2017-FromMay16thtotheDecember31st,2017,aleaderinthehistoryofartAndyWarhol,together with emerging talent Simone D'Auria, finds themselves in Florence to take part in the newchapteroftheurban-culturalprojectdevelopedbytheLungarnoCollection.

The iconic work of the American Pop Art maestro paired with revisited Vespa shells by the illustriousMilanese artist in his Freedom installation will create an evocative journey through the interior of theGalleryHotelArtandthefaçadeofthisFlorentinehotel.Wehavenowarrivedtoourappointment-declaresValerianoAntonioli,CEOoftheGroup–TheideatoredevelopVicolodell’Orowasbornin2013,inthesquareinfrontofourHotelArtGallery,-giving the viewer an alternative perspective, making him to look up! To accomplish this, wereleasedartfromourhotelandhaditclimbupthewalls. ItwasSimoned'Auriawhointerpretedourvision,proposing installationsthatwouldface issuesofparticularsocialandcultural interestandforwhichweobtainedthepatronageoftheMunicipalityofFlorence,aswellassupportfrommajorinstitutionsinthecity.ThisyearwecanboastourpartnershipwiththePiaggioGrouppartnershipwhowantedtosupporttheprojectcreatedbySimoneD'Auria,inspiredbyuniversaliconsofbothMadeinItalyandVespa.WeareveryproudtohosttheworkofamasterlikeAndyWarholwhowillbeanimportantdrivingforceofthePOPGalleryHotelArtspirit. TheexhibitionAndyWarholForeverpresentssixteenofthemosticonicpiecesbyAndyWarholfromtheRosiniGutmanFoundation;itisaquickbutexplicativerecountoftheadventureswhichmanagedtoshake

the foundation of painting and criticism in the academicworld of the late twentieth century, aswell aschangeforevertheimageofAmericaandcontemporarysociety.The location, situated inside the Gallery Hotel Art, proposes two portraits from the series dedicated toMarilynMonroe,whichWarholcompletedin1962,shortlyafterhertragicdemise.Warholunderstoodthesymbolicvalueoflifeandviolentdeathoftheactress,andhelpedcontributetoaniconthatwillgodownasalegend.NexttoMarilyn,thereisascreenprintfromtheeditionLadiesandGentlemen,theserieswhereWarholtoportrayedthefacesofordinarypeopleandnotonlyentertainmenticons.Inthiscontext,theartistdecidedtousedragqueensoftheNewYorkclub,TheGildenGrape,asmodels-ahottopicandnoteasilyabsorbatthetime.Images reflecting consumerism are in abundance, the strongest example being the famous Campbell'sSoup Cans. Here they are featured in their classic 1967 edition, the unique 1984 Winter Olympics inSarajevodesign,andthe“disposable”cottonpaperedCampbellSoupDress.Theexhibitioncontinueswiththeanalyzationofhismorepeculiarwork,suchas thereproductionof theKiku,betterknownastheJapaneseChrysanthemum.ThisflowerrepresentsboththeemperorandimperialhouseofJapanandthere-visitationofseventeenth-centurynaturaldeath.Theseconceptswerecalculatedand realized as real living patterns, playing and experimentingwith theuseof graphic art shadows. D’Auria’scolorful installationandstrong ideaof freedomcombinedwiththecommunicativepowerofaninternationallyrecognizedbrandallowvisitorstoimmersethemselvesinaPopArtatmosphere.HisnewinstallationarrivestotheGalleryHotelArt,afterthe2013façadehostedalongrowofgiantbikesrepresenting the adventure of humanity always looking to the future. In 2014, a long line of chromemannequins, each with a different animal head tracing individual symbolismwhile in 2015, the year ofExpo,hugespoons-BrunoSpoon-reminiscentofthethemesuniversallydiscussedattheexposition,andatthesametime,payshomagethegreatdesignerBrunoMunari;lastyear,WOW.Thewhirlwindofenergy,proposed a girandole that refers to the idea of wind and into clean energy obtainable using thisatmosphericphenomenon.

TheD’Auriainstallation,collaboratingwithLeica,iscompletedinthesquareofVicolodell’OrowithaselfiecornerfeaturingthreestationaryVespe,atvaryingheightsinordertointeractwiththepublic,becomingasubject and background for selfies for one to share on social media (#galleryhotelart; Instagram:@lungarnocollection).
