Firefighter Basic Training

Firefighter I and II Certification Training

Program Cost Registration fees:

Firefighter I and II $375.00

(Including fees for

EVD and RIT)

Student Supply Fee: $200.00

Students must wear blue Dickies® work pants for class.

Boots are recommended. Tee shirts, shorts and tennis

shoes needed for physical training.

Admission Requirements Students must be 18 years of age prior to the first

day of class.

Students must have a high school diploma or GED.

Students must possess and maintain a valid drivers

license.

Students must complete an admission packet two

weeks prior to the first day of class.

Class size is limited to the first twenty applicants.

Program Hours Orientation and Safety 25 hrs.

Alarms and Communications 16 hrs.

Fire Behavior 16 hrs.

Portable Fire Extinguishers 7 hrs.

Personal Protective Equipment 16 hrs.

Forcible Entry 16 hrs.

Ventilation 24 hrs.

Ropes 12 hrs.

Ladders 16 hrs.

Fire Hose, Streams and Appliances 24 hrs.

Foam Streams 8 hrs.

Fire Control 32 hrs.

Salvage 7 hrs.

Overhaul 7 hrs.

Emergency Medical Care 24 hrs.

Rescue 24 hrs.

Water Supplies 16 hrs.

Sprinklers 16 hrs.

Haz Mat 32 hrs.

Fire Prevention, Education and Cause 20 hrs.

Building Construction 8 hrs.

Physical Training 40 hrs.

NIMS 8 hrs.

NC Rapid Intervention Team Series 40 hrs.

Driver Operator EVD 16 hrs. (Student must register separately for these two classes)

Class Offerings Class will begin on January 26, 2015. The class will meet

from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The class

will take approximately three months to complete and

will end in May, 2015.

Emergency Medical Technician classes will be made

available upon completion of the Basic Fire Fighter

Training Program.
