Students’ relationship with the business and professional world begins through internships in companies in their third year of studies. These internships are provided and tutored by the School. Students in their last year of studies may, as an option, apply for professional internship. We are currently collaborating with the most important companies and institutions in the fashion industry.

These agreements have forged direct links that have allowed us to acquire first-hand knowledge of the constantly changing demands of the working environment to inform our training provision, as well as the opportunity to offer our students a first glimpse of the professional world, empowering them to acquire the skills and essential knowledge they need for their professional development.

FAQ

Page 21: FASHION DESIGN - LCI Barcelonaen.lcibarcelona.com/~/media/files/barcelona/pdfs/titulos-superiores... · Styling, Accessories, Coolhunting, Sports Collec-tion Management and much more

Are the Official Higher Degrees in Design equivalent to university degrees?

Yes. They are framed within the European High-er Education Area (EHEA) and they constitute the first cycle or grade required by the EHEA leading to postgraduate studies.

If the Official Higher Degrees in Design are equivalent to the Degrees, why have they got a different classification?

The classification depends on the center where they are taught. If they are taught in a university they are called Degrees and if they are taught in a School of Higher Education in Design they are called Higher Degrees, although the only difference is the access. In Spain there are over 140 Schools of Higher Education in Design.

Will my degree have the same value as a university degree?

Yes. Higher arts education is equivalent, in all respects, to a university degree. You will be able to ask for state scholarships, study with an Erasmus and your Degree will have recognition at European level, both academically and professionally.

As a student of a School of Higher Education in Design, can I access the Erasmus program?

Yes. LCI Barcelona has the Erasmus University Charter since 2007 and numerous partner universities/schools all around Europe.

Has the Official Higher Degree in Design the same didactic structure as the Degree?

Yes. The duration is 4 academic years, 140 ECTS. The syllabus includes courses in basic training, specific compulsory training, optional, external internship and end-of-course project.

With the Official Higher Degree in Design, can I access a master or a state competitive examination?

Yes. The Official Higher Degree in Design will allow you to access an official master, a subsequent PhD and competitive examinations for public administration.

Can I access a master in the European Higher Education Area? And a master in the US or any other country outside the EHEA?

Yes. You can access any master of any country in the European Higher Education. For other coun-tries, it will depend on the local regulations and the access requirements of each school.

And will I get the EuropeanSupplement to the Degree?

Yes, with the same conditions as university stu-dents, as specified in the publication of the Official Spanish Gazette in which the rules of the regu-lation “Grado en Diseño, BOE1614/2009 art. 6.4.” are established.

And will I be able to apply for public grants?

Yes. You will be able to ask for study grants from the Ministry of Education convened every year, as well as other national and international scholarships.

Page 22: FASHION DESIGN - LCI Barcelonaen.lcibarcelona.com/~/media/files/barcelona/pdfs/titulos-superiores... · Styling, Accessories, Coolhunting, Sports Collec-tion Management and much more

ADMISSIONS

Higher Arts Education is regulated by Roy-al Decree 633/2010, of 14 May 2010 (BOE no. 137 – 05.06.2010). In order to access candidates must meet the following criteria:

• To hold the baccalaureate or equivalent• To have passed the university admission

test for students over 25 years• Students aged 18 or over who do not hold

these qualifications are subject to a test in which they must demonstrate sufficient knowledge in relation to the baccalaure-ate objectives.

In each of these three cases, the student must also pass the Specific Admission Test in which the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for these studies will be assessed. Persons holding one of the following qualifi-cations will have direct access to the studies:

• Higher Degree of Fine Arts or equivalent Degree or Graduate degree in Fine Arts

• Degree of Technician in Fine Arts and De-sign.

GRANTS AND STUDY AID

Students can request throughout their training general and mobility grants and study aids from the Ministry of Education through the Departament d’Ensenyament (Department of Education). In order to process this type of aid, the school provides the necessary documents and manages the process.

In addition to these grants, LCI Barcelona provides scholarships to reward students graduating with excellence in the ordinary examinations.
