Uses of the Imperfect to Talk About the Past
• To talk about something that used to happen“I used to read a story before bed”
• To speak about how old someone was“He was 30 years old when…”
• To speak about background events in a story“While I was walking through the forest…”
• To say what time it was / talk about the weather.“It was 8:30 pm / It was hot”
