Student's Feedback on Curriculum for the year 2017-18

Effective teaching, learning, administration, library facilities, etc. were evaluated using feedback obtained from students. We introduced online feedback form in our website during this academic year.

We included 4 questions related to curriculum in the feedback form and analyzed using a four point scale. Feedback was collected from the students those who had an attendance 85% and above. 783 students participated in the survey. Based on their answers charts were prepared to analyze the results and are given below.

Analysis of Figure 1 shows that 92% of students agree that the syllabus for the Programs in the college was completed on time. This indicates that the syllabus is appropriately structured to be completed in the allotted time.

Most students agree that the curriculum helped them to acquire necessary skills required for the job. Some students pointed out that the curriculum should include more skill development

Above 60% students agree that the curriculum is competent to improve problem solving ability. Analysis showed that further changes in curriculum are required to improve problem solving ability.

Analysis shows that 46% teachers uses ICT most of the time and 52% teachers uses ICT some times. Extensive use of lCT tools indicate that the curriculum has advance'd topics.

Conclusion

Survey was conducted at the end of each semester. Analysis shows that UG and PG curriculum designed by Calicut University is effective to provide the needs of students studying during 2017-18 academ ic year.

Main suggestions from the survey are

'. 1. To request concerned Board of Studies to include higher percentage of skill development and problem solving aspects in the syllabus.

2. Instruct teachers to conduct more classes using ICT.

PTA Feedback on Curriculum for the year 2017-18

Parents view and suggestions about the curriculum was collected through the online survey conducted at the end of each semester. Three points regarding (1) whether the syllabus meets the academic and professional needs of their wards, (2) Does the library provide reference to meet the syllabus needs and (3) Do the College provide an advanced digital environment were included in the feedback form. 1608 parents participated in the survey. Results of the survey are given below

Analysis of figure I shows that 75% parents agreed that the syllabus of the Programs in the college is suitable to cater professional knowledge and is helpful in job seeking process in the respective area. Some parents demanded to include more aspects to improve academic and professional knowledge.

More than 80% of parents agreed that the library is equipped with latest information and references to support the curriculum.

77% of parents were of the opinion that the latest topics in the syllabus can be studied using digital media in the college. This shows that the curriculum is up-to-date and the students can depend on digital media for getting relevant information about topics in the curriculum.

Conclusion

Parent's feedback analysis shows that most parents agreed that the syllabus prepared by the university is well equipped and included academic and professional requirements for their children.

Alumni Feedback on Curriculum Design for the year 201 7-18

Productivity and effectiveness of curriculum was evaluated by analyzing the feedback obtained from former students of the college. We have conducted an online survey among alumni during 2017-18 academic year. 153 old students participated in the survey. Analysis report is given below.

Analysis shows that 72% of alumni agreed that the curriculum they have studied is helpful for the present job conditions. But 27% alumni suggested that the syllabus should be improved to get more practical knowledge.

Anahysis shows that 27% of alumni suggest syllabus revision to include further aspects of professional/industrial knowledge. But more than 70% alumni are happy that their curriculum is helping their professional/industrial life.

Analysis shows that the syllabus helped 78% of alumni to pursue higher studks. Some of the alumni changed their area of study after their Program in St.Aloysius College. Those alumni responded negatively to the above question.

Conclusion

Major proportion alumni suggested that their curriculum helped them to pursue higher studies and find jobs. Topics studied in the curriculum also helped them in their professional life. Some alumni suggested the following

Teacher's Feedback on Curriculum for the year 2017-18

Teacher's survey was conducted at the end of the academic year to evaluate the curriculum. Since teachers know the syllabus well and its execution, we included six questions related to curriculum for the survey. Collected information was analyzed to improve the overall performance. Analysis of feedback from teachers is given below.

Only 58% of teachers strongly agree that the syllabus is need based for the program. This shows that modification in the syllabus is required periodically to make the curriculum relevant and need based.

86% of teachers agreed that their syllabus is having proper aim and objectives for the program. However some teachers have the opinion that the curriculum has to be more focused.

43% of teachers strongly agreed that the syllabus is having perfect balance between theory and practical, but 5 I % suggested for improvement in this regard.

Most of the teachers (62%) agreed that the syllabus is in the correct sequence and is relevant to the program of the study

Analysis shows that70% of teachers have the opinion that the curriculum provides recent and relevant reference materials.

Only 20% of teachers suggested that the curriculum is not molded into semester period.

Conclusion

Teacher's survey on' various aspects of curriculum such as design, sequence, relevance, balance

between theory & practical, clarity and whether need based shows that the syllabus prescribed by

the Calicut University is very well organized and updated. However improvements were suggested

by some teachers. These suggestions were forwarded to the college council for further action.
