YEAR SIX - END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES This newsletter is to inform you about the various activities in which your Year 6 student will participate in between now and the end of the school year.

Tuesday 6 th December - Farewell Practice The Year Sixes will be have a practice session during the day in preparation for their

Farewell. This is in the school Smart Space Hall. Please ensure your child is at school on this day.

Wednesday December 7 th - FAREWELL Night (Cost Free)

The FAREWELL ceremony for the Year Sixes starts at 7pm. All students attending are to be at the Highfields State School Hall by 6:45pm. The formal part of the night will finish around 8:15pm when there will be a short

break as the floor is made ready for dancing. There will be dancing for the Year Sixes after the ceremony. Clothing for Farewell: The Year 6 Farewell Ceremony is a formal farewell to our

students and students need to dress accordingly. However, it is not the same as a Year 12 Formal. It is not necessary to outlay a huge amount of money for an outfit.

Boys : Shirt – buttoned down the front, collar, sleeves (short or long) and tucked in. Trousers – preferably with a belt. Shoes – dark, clean, properly laced, suitable for dancing, preferably not joggers. Girls: Clothing needs to be suitably modest, dresses should be knee length or longer to prevent embarrassment whilst on stage, and consideration should be given to dress styles that allow freedom of movement climbing stairs and dancing. Dress or Skirt and top. Shoes – appropriate and safe for dances and negotiating stairs. DUE TO SEATING LIMITS, WE REQUEST EACH STUDENT ONLY BRINGS 5 GUESTS.

Wednesday December 7 th - Secret Santa Secret Santa will be arranged for the students who wish to participate. Please assist your child in buying a gift to a value of around $8 for the student they draw. These gifts are to be brought to the school on this day when the exchanging of gifts will be

carried out.

Friday December 9 th – Ten Pin Bowling at Sunset Superbowl and Milne Bay P ool

Cost for the day: Bus - $4 (pay teacher exact money on that morning) Tenpin bowling – NO COST

Pool - $4.00 (pay at pool door). Spending money at pool canteen is optional

. Buses leaves school at 9:00am and take us to ten pin bowling first. Then we will go to Milne Bay pool. Clothing: Must be suitable for a school outing – clean, neat casual attire with closed in

shoes, sun safe with a collar. Students will be required to bring togs, towel and sunscreen in a bag. Students will need to bring lunch and will also be allowed to use the canteen at the pool. We will bus back to school at 2:30pm and be back at school by 3pm for final farewells.

Should you have further queries regarding any aspect of the planned program, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher as soon as possible.
