CALIFORNIA’S ASSISSTED SUICIDE LAW This weekend our parish will continue to gather your signatures in supporting the petition to overturn the California’s Assisted Suicide Law. “Because all life is sacred, Catholic teaching holds that assisted suicide can never be permitted. Euthanasia and assisted suicide stand in contradiction to the Catholic under-standing that all life bears God’s image and has inherent dignity.” Petition forms are available at the table outside after each mass. Your participation is very much appreciated.

Señor Jesucristo, tú nos has enseñado a ser misericordiosos como el Pa-dre del cielo, y nos has dicho que quien te ve, lo ve también a Él. Muéstranos tu rostro y obtendremos la salvación. Xin tỏ cho chúng con thấy thiên nhan Chúa và chúng con sẽ được cứu rỗi Ánh mắt yêu thương của Chúa đã giải thoát Giakêu và Matthêu khỏi thân phận nô lệ của tiền bạc; cũng như cứu người đàn bà ngoại tình và Mađalêna thoát khỏi việc kiếm tìm hạnh phúc nơi những tạo vật; Ánh mắt đó đã khiến Phêrô bật khóc sau khi bội phản Thầy mình, và ánh mắt ấy đã hứa Thiên Đàng cho người trộm lành tỏ lòng ăn năn. Lạy Chúa xin cho chúng con biết lắng nghe những lời Chúa phán cùng người phụ nữ Samaria như thể lời Chúa phán cùng mỗi người chúng con: “Nếu chị nhận ra ân huệ Thiên Chúa ban!” Chúa là dung mạo tỏ tường của Chúa Cha vô hình, của Thiên Chúa, Đấng biểu lộ quyền năng của Ngài nơi tình thương tha thứ và lòng xót thương. Chúa đã muốn các thừa tác viên của Chúa mặc lấy sự yếu đuối để họ có thể cảm thương với những ai trong vòng u minh lầm lạc, để mọi người đến với họ cảm thấy được Chúa kiếm tìm, yêu thương, và tha thứ. Xin sai Thánh Thần Chúa đến và xức dầu thánh hiến tất cả chúng con, để Năm Thánh Từ Bi này là một năm hồng ân của Chúa, và của Giáo Hội, với một lòng nhiệt thành đổi mới, có thể mang tin mừng đến cho người nghèo khó, loan báo tự do cho những ai bị giam cầm, áp bức, và cho người mù được thấy. A Christmas Message from Fr. Thomas Tran- 2015

Dear Beloved Parishioners of Saint Barbara Parish:

As we gather to celebrate Christmas, another year has passed with many events, public and private, touching our lives and those of the people in our parish in different ways. No doubt this year has brought Joys and sadness in dif-ferent measure to each person all colouring our memories of 2015. Let us strive to open our hearts to others, especial-ly conscious of those who have lost a loved one since last Christmas or the many overburdened by worries, sickness, and family problems or for many other reasons.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, faithful parishioners for haven given generously of your time, talents, and treasure in making this Parish such an energetic, faith-filled community that it is at present. Without you, there will be no Saint Barbara Parish. I am truly honored and humbled to serve you as your priest.

I will continue to remember you in my prayers each day. May the birth of Christ be a time of great hope and blessings for you and your family.

Al reunirnos para celebrar la Navidad, otro año ha pasado con muchos eventos, públicos y privados, los cuales tocaron nues-tras vidas de diferentes maneras, e igualmente tocaron la vida de las personas en nuestra parroquia. Sin duda, este año ha traído alegrías y tristezas en distintas medidas a cada persona, las cuales colorearon nuestros recuerdos del 2015. Conscien-temente abrámosle el corazón especialmente a quienes han perdido a un ser querido desde la última Navidad y a aquellos que están sobrecargados por preocupaciones, enfermedades y problemas familiares o por otras muchas razones.

Me gustaría tomar esta oportunidad para agradecerles a ustedes, fieles feligreses, por dar tan generosamente su tiempo, ta-lento y tesoros para hacer de esta comunidad tan energética, llena de fe, y es un don de Dios. Sin ti, no existiera la Parro-quia de Santa Bárbara. Me siento verdaderamente honrado y humildemente les sirvo como su sacerdote.

Diariamente les seguiré recordando en mis oraciones. Y que el nacimiento de Cristo les traiga gran esperanza y muchas ben-diciones para usted y su familia.

Kính thưa quý Ông Bà Anh chị Em trong Chúa,

Khi chúng ta sửa soạn để mừng lễ Giáng Sinh, là lúc báo hiệu một năm nữa sắp trôi qua. Sự thay đổi của đất trời nhắc chúng ta nhìn lại những sự kiện đã xảy ra cho từng cá nhân hay cộng đồng với nhiều hình thức khác nhau, trong đó có Anh Chị Em thuôc giáo xứ chúng ta. Những niềm vui và nỗi buồn với các trình độ khác nhau đã để lại trong chúng ta một ký ức với nhiều màu sắc của năm 2015. Hãy cố gắng để mở lòng mình ra với mọi người, đặc biệt cho những Anh Chị Em đã mất đi người thân kể từ Giáng Sinh năm ngoái, hoặc những ai đang bị chồng chất bởi gánh nặng của lo lắng, ốm đau , và các vấn đề về gia đình hoặc vì nhiều lý do khác .

Tôi muốn nhân cơ hội này để cám ơn tất cả mọi người, những giáo dân trung thành đã quảng đại đóng góp thời gian, tài năng, và tiền của để xây dựng một giáo xứ tràn đầy sức sống, và đức tin như ngày hôm nay. Nếu không có quý Ông Bà Anh chị Em, sẽ không có giáo xứ Saint Barbara. Là một linh mục, tôi thực vinh hạnh để phục vụ quý vị ở giáo xứ này.

Ơn toàn xá là gì? Bạn có muốn nhận được không?Đức Giáo hoàng Francis tuyên bố năm 2016 là Năm của LÒNG THƯƠNG XÓT và bắt đầu vào ngày mồng 8 tháng 12, 2015.Trong bí tích rửa tội chúng ta được tha thứ tội lỗi và hình phạt liên quan đến tội lỗi. Trong Bí Tích Hòa Giải, chúng ta nhận được sự tha thứ tội lỗi. Nhưng , đó không phải là hình phạt tạm mà chúng ta đền trong luyện ngục theo công lý của Thiên Chúa . Giáo Hội có quyền lực để làm thuyên giảm tạm thời sự trừng phạt của Thiên Chúa. Vì Giáo Hội nhận được sức mạnh này từ Chúa Kitô : " Dưới đất, anh em tháo gỡ điều gì, trên trời cũng sẽ tháo gỡ như vậy" (Mt 18,18). Để đạt được một ơn toàn xá , trong một năm bình thường hoặc Năm thánh, đây là những điều cần phải làm: 1.- Có ý định được ân xá. 2.- Không có bất kỳ tội nào (thậm chí tội nhẹ ) qua Bí Tích Giải Tội 3.- Tham dự Thánh lễ và rước Mình Máu Thánh Chúa 4.- Cầu nguyện theo ý Đức Thánh Cha (Kinh Lạy Cha , Kính Mừng và Sáng Danh) 5.- Đi hành hương tại các nhà thờ được chỉ định và viếng Chúa Thánh Thể ít nhất là 30 phút để nhận được ơn toàn xá. Mặc dù sự hiệp thông và cầu nguyện theo ý Đức Thánh Cha đòi hỏi phải vào cùng một ngày, tuy nhiên việc xưng tội có thể được thực hiện 8 ngày trước đó . Giáng Sinh, lễ của tương lai

Hai người phụ nữ sung sướng được trở thành mẹ. Và Tân Ước bắt đầu như thế khi Mẹ của Gioan Tẩy Giả gặp Mẹ của Giêsu, họ sung sướng đã sản sinh ra thế giới mới nhờ những đứa con đến từ Thánh Ý phụ tử của Thiên Chúa. Mọi cuộc sống nảy mầm là một lời hứa hẹn cho tương lại và cho sự tự do. Nếu lễ Giáng Sinh gắn liền với một thông điệp của hòa bình và hy vọng, chính là vì nó không thể làm thất vọng thế giới và sự sống, khi Con của Thiên Chúa sinh ra giữa chúng ta. Và cũng chính vì thế mà Giáng Sinh là lễ hội. Một thoáng hy vọng trong đám mây mù giữa các xã hội của tiêu thụ và của buồn rầu. Noel, chính là lễ hội của tương lai. Qua Đức Giêsu, Thiên Chúa giữ lời hứa của Người là làm cho gia đình của anh em nhân loại, con cái của Người trong tình yêu, được sống trong hòa bình.

Mầu nhiệm Nhập Thể, chính là sự tham gia thường ngày vào việc sinh ra Đức Kitô, qua các bà mẹ sung sướng để sinh hạ và tạ ơn, vì Thiên Chúa đã giữ lời hứa của Người... nhất là cho những ai không tin vào con người, vì họ không còn tin vào Thiên Chúa. Nhìn vào hai bà mẹ sung sướng của Phúc âm, là một việc thực tập mới của niềm tin, rạng ngời trong một nụ cười của hy vọng.

BOLETIN LA INDULGENCIA PLENARIA ¿Qué es? – ¿Te gustaría ganarla? El Papa Francisco declaró el año 2016 de LA MISERICORDIA e inicia el 8 de diciembre del 2015. En el bautismo se nos perdona la culpa y también la pena relacionada con el pecado. En el Sacramento de la Peni-tencia se perdona la culpa y la pena eterna que merece el peca-do. PERO, no el castigo temporal que se paga en el purgatorio que requiere la justicia divina. La Iglesia tiene el poder para efectuar la remisión de dicha pena temporal. Este poder fue dado por Cristo: “Lo que desates en la tierra quedará desatado en el cielo” (Mt 18,18). Para ganar una indulgencia plenaria, en año normal o en año santo, debes siempre cumplir con los RE-QUISITOS:

1.Tener la intención de ganar indulgencias 2.No tener pecado alguno (ni venial siquiera) -Confesión Sacra-mental hecha a conciencia

3.Asistir a Misa y recibir la Santa Comunión

4.Orar por las intenciones del Santo Padre (Padre Nuestro, Ave María y Gloria).

5.Visitar la iglesia designada y hacerle compañía al Santísimo Sacramento por lo menos media hora para recibir la indulgecia.

Bulletin boards, students’ work, Nativity scenes, and Christmas trees remind us to “Prepare for the Coming of Christ.” An Advent calendar in the school lobby is the source of daily Scripture readings announced in morning prayer.

The “Student Families” met on December 4th, the Feast of St. Barbara. Students were reminded of the young girl’s desire for knowledge of her faith, her devotion to the Holy Trinity, and her courage to stand true to her faith, which led to her martyrdom. The St. Barbara Parish School Families listened to stories about the different Advent saints including St. Bar-bara and St. Nick and the story of the Baker’s Dozen, a lesson in generosity. The students worked together to make saint ornaments to hang on their own trees at home. 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Craig, even sponsored a drawing contest award-ing statues of St. Barbara to the winners.

Students were also asked to make Christmas cards for those serving in the military, sending greetings of gratitude from St. Barbara Parish School to those away from home.
