Vectren Corporation – Evansville, IN 2009 – Present

Vectren Corporation is an energy holding company with $5.2B in total assets that consists of both utility and nonutility subsidiaries. Vectren’s energy delivery subsidiaries provide gas and/or electricity to more than 1 million customers in adjoining service territories that cover nearly two-thirds of Indiana and west central Ohio. Vectren’s nonutility subsidiaries offer energy-related products and services to customers throughout the U.S. to include infrastructure and energy services.

Manager, Credit, Risk, & Continuity Management (2010-present)A broad and highly demanding role, as one of the organization’s principal risk governance champions. Responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s enterprise risk assessment and management frameworks and for commodity risk management, credit risk management, records management, business continuity, related compliance and security programs.

Coordinates the content for, activities of, and reporting to the company’s executive risk management committee, and the risk portion of each subsidiary Board, the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Board, and the full Board, ensuring that appropriately strategic content is brought before it for review.

Value-Added Risk Assessments: Leads the risk assessment process that defines the holding company’s, utilities’ and nonutility

subsidiaries’ risk priorities for both the audit and enterprise risk plans, ensuring that there is a clear linkage between the two, that risk management is woven into the strategic planning process and cascaded down into business unit planning.

Conducts risk assessment surveys, workshops and direct interviews with groups ranging from line managers through to senior leadership to identify existing and emerging risks, define risk appetites and establish risk tolerance levels.

Records and Information Management: Re-built the records management department from the ground up, leading the development of a

companywide records and information management program with direct responsibility for physical records management, the classification of records types, development of retention schedules and the organizational rollout of records polices and training.

Leads the internal records steering committee that governs the electronic and physical records programs, ensuring a close alignment between records management, IT and legal in developing and managing records and retention strategies.

Effective Strategic Commodity Risk Management Programs: Has maintained the framework for mid-office controls, oversight and reporting across a number of

organizations – power marketing, gas supply hedging, wholesale, and retail gas marketing. Has directly led the successful structuring and execution of transactions in a wide variety of

products ranging from power/natural gas options and emission allowances to coal contracts. Heads a cross-functional team that evaluates physical and financial hedging opportunities and risk

management strategies. Establishes the policies, procedures, systems and controls to ensure successful execution and oversight, and manages the resulting fair value accounting, reporting and operational risk compliance requirements.

Leads the company’s ongoing monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning and compliance program for Dodd-Frank / CFTC regulatory requirements.

Coordinates with financial reporting on SEC reporting and disclosures related to risk management and derivatives.

Prudent Contracts and Credit Risk Management: Is the company’s principal credit expert, managing credit risks across multiple entities for

transactions ranging from power purchase and coal supply contracts to retail choice programs and large commercial and industrial accounts.

Re-built the credit department from the ground up, encompassing counterparty credit analysis and scoring, contractual negotiations, and collateral management – have incurred no significant credit losses since managing the department in 2010.

Avoided almost $11 million of credit losses from bankruptcies and defaults during the recession through detailed customer/counterparty financial evaluation, aggressively negotiated credit provisions, collateral management and securitization.

Dependable Security and Business Continuity: Established the governance model for business resiliency – integrating the strategic oversight of

physical and cyber-security, corporate business continuity and IT disaster recovery into a joint, cross departmental approach.

Strengthened the partnership between risk management, operations, security and IT in conducting value-added business impact analyses, defining critical functions and their interdependencies, and the development of practical recovery objectives, plans, tabletop exercises and testing.

Transformed the capabilities and effectiveness of the corporate security NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Compliance program serving as the security lead in two successful NERC CIP audits in 2010 and 2013, managed the installation process for the new access control and surveillance systems, and continue to serve in a key advisory position for physical security.

Senior Risk Analyst (2009-2010)Brought in to develop the mid-office controls for an emerging risk management department; ensuring that effective independent oversight, risks metrics and reporting were in place and coordination of the company’s executive risk management committee.
