INTRODUCTION
India as a producer and consumer of textiles is a signicant player in the world textile economy with about 63% of the world market share. Apart from the huge domestic market, India is also a prominent exporter of textiles and clothing. This sector contributes 14% to industrial production, 4% to GDP and constitutes 13% of the country's export earnings while providing employment to about 45 million people. According to the World trade statistical review released by World Trade Organization, out of the world export trade of about 732 billion USD in textiles and apparel during the year 2015, India's share was only about 35 billion USD. In spite of the huge raw material base, this low share is due to the lower share of high value textiles such as garments in exported goods. Finishing is the process which adds maximum value to the textiles by improving aesthetics and comfort and imparting functional properties such as easy care, moisture management, oil and water repellent, antimicrobial, ame retardant etc. However, in our country, processing and nishing is the weakest link in the Textile value chain. This sector is highly fragmented with 90% units being in SME category and not equipped with modern technology. It is expected that with the inclusion of Textiles and clothing sector under Make in India campaign of Government of India, this sector would also get the benet of investment and get modernized. thFinishing on 17 Dec. 2016 is being organized at Mumbai by the Indian Fibre Society (IFS), Mumbai and ICAR- CIRCOT, Mumbai to bring together researchers, industry leaders and entrepreneurs to create awareness about the opportunities in this eld and to disseminate knowledge about the recent advances in this area among various stake holders.

Indian Fibre Society (IFS), established in the year 1995 by a team of scientists and technologists is a registered society of textile professionals with its registered ofce at ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai. The Society, aims at promoting exchange of information in the eld of textiles and related areas. The membership is spread all over India and there is a duly elected Governing Body to carry out various activities in the eld of bres and textiles. IFS publishes a quarterly News Letter and has organized several national and international workshops, seminars and conferences in textiles and allied elds.

CALL FOR TECHNICAL PAPERS
Authors are requested to submit their papers containing original research work/ critical reviews on the above themes for oral/poster presentation at the seminar. It is proposed to have a lead lecture from an eminent speaker/industry leader in each technical session followed by contributed papers. Abstracts of the papers should be submitted on or before November 7, 2016. These should be of about 500 words, typed in Times New Roman with 1.5 line spacing and 10 font size. Authors should submit their email addresses, mobile numbers and other contact details. Acceptance of the abstracts would be conveyed by November 14, 2016 and full papers should be submitted by December 5, 2016. All papers accepted for oral presentation would be published in the Book of Papers. Submission of abstracts and papers by email would be highly appreciated.
ACCOMODATION
It would be difcult to provide accommodation at the institute Guest House due to limited availability. If requested well in advance with payment of tariff for one day, accommodation can be arranged in nearby guest houses/ City hotels for which the tariff varies from Rs. 1500-3500/- per day per person on sharing basis.
