Impact• 19,000 K-12 educators (NJ, NY, AZ, OH, FL)

• International programs and collaborations; model for geographically-distributed programs

• ~9 million students

• 238 community college faculty at 41 institutions in 21 states

• 100,000 students from 35 countries annually participate in online projects

Use of Cyberinfrastructure for 21st Century Learning• Real time data (e.g., Earthquakes)

• Telecollaborative projects (e.g., International Boiling Point Project)

• Primary Source data (e.g., Historic Photos Google Earth)

• Student Publishing (e.g., Lab reports)

• 100,000 students use online projects

External Evaluations

Harcourt Student Impact Study:

“86% of classrooms showed noteworthy gains in science and mathematics learning objectives”

Page 11: CIESE: Creating the Next Generation of Engineers and Innovators

External EvaluationsETS Teacher Study:

-less time lecturing -more comfortable with small group

activities -more cooperative learning -better instruction for different learning

styles -better teacher of problem-solving skills -better able to present complex materials
