Small businesses are the heartbeat of our communities. They are the corner stores that create jobs. The small stores that help build our economy. And the mom and pop shops whose very presence makes a neighborhood, your neighborhood.

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. The Shop Small® Movement inspires people to shop with and support these small businesses as well as give back to the places that have given their communities so much. Created by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year, Small Business Saturday is on November 28th.

The annual State of the Schools Red Carpet Luncheon will be held on January 14, 2016 at 11:45 a.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton. The event is sponsored by Butler Tech. The cost to attend the luncheon is $25.00 per Chamber member ($30.00 per non-member). Please make reservations online at www.hamilton-ohio.com or by calling or emailing the Chamber at 844-1500/[email protected].

In September, I was elected as Vice-Chairman of the Workforce Investment Board Serving Butler, Clermont, and Warren County, (WIBBCW). The WIBBCW is a three-county regional organization comprised of Butler, Clermont, and Warren county leaders from business, education & training, and workforce organizations. The goal of the WIBBCW is to provide an educated and qualified workforce that meets the current and future needs of employers. As I consistently hear from businesses that finding, retaining and training their workforce is their number one issue, I look forward to working with the staff and board of the WIBBCW to meet your workforce needs. Although there are several beneficial programs available for your use today, more innovative

approaches are needed. We know employers are especially looking for assistance with training their incumbent workers. Look for more programs to meet these needs coming soon. View the Chamber website at www.hamilton-ohio.com to see the programs available to assist you with your workforce needs. As we’re developing new programs now, please contact me at [email protected] to offer any thoughts you have as we attempt to develop the best workforce programs possible.
