The Industrial Heating Equipment Association, IHEA, has announced its 2013-14 Board of directors and officers.

The new president is Tim Lee of Maxon, a division of Honeywell, while Bob Green of Bloom Engineering was named IHEA vice-pres-ident; J Bernard of Surface Combustion was elected treasurer. Outgoing presi-dent, Mike Shay of Elster Kromschröder, assumes the

Ceratizit expands hardmetal presence in AsiaCutting tool specialist Ceratizit has established a new production unit in the industrial area of Uluberia in West Bengal, India.

Ceratizit India, a significant player in the Indian market, has already been manufac-turing hardmetal products in Bengal for seventeen years.

“To meet the increasing demand of cutting tools in Asia, this continuous expan-sion and strengthening of our activities in the impor-tant Indian market is key to our success,” said Thierry Wolter, member of the Ceratizit executive board.

Ceratizit in India, added: “The increase of our production capacities will create new job opportunities for another 200 people. The new production unit is spread over 6.2 acres of land and will enable us to sig-nificantly develop the manufac-turing of cutting tool inserts.”

Ceratizit India Pvt Ltd currently employs about 180 people and is involved in the development, production, mar-keting and selling of cutting tool inserts and tool holders.

The Ceratizit Group is also improving its sales and service offering to the Indian cutting tool customers through its subsidiary WNT India.

Hardmetal specialist Element Six has acquired the assets and intellectual property of Group4 Labs Inc, a semi-conductor wafer materials manufacturer. The acquisi-tion will expand Element Six’s semiconductor portfolio for defence and commercial applications. Group4 makes gallium nitride (GaN) on-diamond semiconductor technology for RF and high-power devices and developed the first com-mercially available composite semiconductor wafer that includes GaN and diamond.

involved in the manufacture of transistor-based circuits with high power, temperature and frequency characteristics.
