2016 CIF SOUTHERN SECTION-FORD FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS, ON TAP FRIDAY AND SATURDAY;

13 DIVISIONAL TITLES TO BE AWARDED

LOS ALAMITOS -- Thirteen divisional winners will be crowned champions this weekend in the 2016 CIF Southern Sec on-Ford Football Championships, scheduled for sites spanning from the desert to the sea. Championship football compe on among CIF-SS member schools dates back to 1914. This will be the 103rd edi on.

DIVISION 1- St. John Bosco vs. Mater Dei, Saturday December 3rd, at Angel Stadium, 7:30 pm, Fox Sports West

Two of the top teams in the state of California and the United States will face off in the Division 1 Final at Angel Stadium.

St. John Bosco arrives at its 4th straight CIF tle game having gone 1-2 in the past three Pac-5 tle games. Coach Jason Negro’s Braves are 11-2, runners up in the Trinity League, have scored more

than 20 points in every single game and seek to avenge its earlier loss to Mater Dei. The Braves have scored 581 points and barely allowed over 220. QB Re-Al Mitchell has thrown for 2679 yards and 28 touchdowns, WR Berkley Holman has caught 11 touchdowns while Jacob Callier has 84 tackles and 9 sacks. The Braves look to add to their recent run of success with a 2nd CIF tle.

Mater Dei enters the fi nal at 13-0, top seed in the bracket and champions of the Trinity League. Coach Bruce Rollinson’s team has been ranked near or at the top all season long and features a power-ful team on both sides of the ball. The Monarchs have scored nearly 700 points and allowed less than

DIVISION 1 (Cont.): 150. Quarterback JT Daniels has thrown for over 4300 yards and nearly 70 touch-downs, WR Osris St. Brown has over 1100 recep on yards and nearly 20 touchdown recep ons, while Sal Aguilar has 60 tackles and nearly 5 sacks. Having been ranked at or near the top in the country for the en re season, the Monarchs are back in a CIF fi nal for the fi rst me since 2013 and look to add to the programs storied history with its 10th CIF championship.

DIVISION 2-San Clemente at Murrieta Valley, Friday December 2nd, 7:30pm, Fox Sports WestOne program will fi nally ascend to the mountaintop in the Division 2 fi nal. San Clemente arrives at its third straight CIF tle game a er falling just short the previous two

years. The Tritons come in at 10-3 and the runner ups of the South Coast league a er bea ng top seeded Heritage in the 2nd round. Coach Jaime Or z leads a well-balanced squad that has been on a roll during the playoff s. QB Jack Sears has passed for 2033 yards and 31 TDs while rushing for almost 10 TDS while RB Brandon Reavens is responsible for 21 total touchdowns. On defense the Tritons have forced over 20 turnovers and 23 sacks. The Tritons are back in a CIF fi nal and hungry for their fi rst CIF tle.

Murrieta Valley con nues a historic season with its appearance in the CIF fi nal. The Nighthawks are 11-2, the champions of the Southwestern League and enjoyed a win over cross town rival Vista Murrieta. Coach George Wilson’s team has scored more than 600 points and are yet to allow 300. QB Hank Bachmeier has passed for over 3300 yards and 40 TDs, while adding nearly 10 rushing TDs. RB Olita Palmer has rushed for over 200 0 yards and over 24 TDs while Tevin Teague has over 100 tackles on defense. The Nighthawks look to complete their storybook season with the programs 1st CIF tle.

DIVISION 3- Edison at La Mirada, Friday December 2nd, 7:30 pm, tape delayed on Fox Sports West at 8:00 pm

Two programs steeped in tradi on face off in the Division 3 fi nal. Edison con nues to write a magical script with its appearance in the CIF fi nal. The Chargers

were the champions of the Sunset League and hold a 12-1 record. In his 31st and fi nal season as head coach, Dave White has built a balanced team on both sides of the ball which has led to an 8 game win-ning streak. QB Griffi n O’Conner has passed for over 2700 yards and over 30 TDs while Kenny Carmi-chael has over 15 sacks and over 85 tackles. Edison looks to win its 6th CIF tle and send Coach White out with a win.

A year removed from a CIF tle and a State tle, La Mirada makes its 2nd consecu ve CIF Final appearance. The Matadors hold an 11-2 record, the top seed in the bracket and were the champions of the Suburban League. Coach Mike Mosche ’s team has won ten in a row, scored over 500 points and barely allowed 200. QB Tristan Meyer has thrown for 2208 yards and 35 TDs while Elijah Hicks has 5 intercep ons and over 30 tackles. The Matadors seek their 2nd consecu ve CIF tle.

DIVISION 4- Corona Del Mar vs. Sierra Canyon at Granada Hills High School, Friday December 2nd, 7:00 pm, Fox Sports Prep Zone

Programs with recent success both locally and at the state level meet in the Division 4 fi nal. Corona Del Mar returns to the CIF-SS Final for the fi rst me since 2013 when they would go on

to win a state tle. The Sea Kings were the champions of the Pacifi c Coast League, hold a 12-1 record and a riding a 12 game winning streak. Coach Dan O’Shea runs a powerful off ense that has scored over 550 points. QB Chase Garbers has thrown for 3699 yards and 46 TDs while WR Tae Le has over 1200 recep on yards and more than 20 TDs. Corona Del Mar looks to add a 6th CIF football crown to its im-pressive school trophy list.

CIF fi nal appearance and third since 2011 which included the 2011 state tle. The Trailblazers are the champions of the Gold Coast League, are the top team in the bracket and have a 13-0 record. Coach Jon Ellinghouse’s team has scored 491 points and barely allowed 200. RB Bobby Cole has rushed for over 1700 yards and more than 24 TDs while Trevor Horworth has over 100 tackles. Sierra Canyon looks to collect its 3rd CIF Title.

DIVISION 5-Calabasas at Capistrano Valley, Saturday December 3rd, 7:00 pm, Fox Sports Prep ZoneHigh scoring and stout defenses highlight the Division 5 fi nal.A year removed from its fi rst ever CIF tle, Calabasas returns to the championship round. The

Coyotes are the top seed in the bracket, the champions of the Camino League, and hold a 13-0 record. Coach Casey Clausan’s team has scored nearly 600 points in their undefeated season. QB Tristan Gebbia has passed for over 3800 yards and over 45 TDs while Darney Holmes and Nikko Hall both have double digit touchdown recep ons. Holmes also has two special teams’ touchdowns to his resume as the Coy-otes seek consecu ve CIF tles.

Capistrano Valley makes its inaugural appearance in a CIF Final. The Cougars are 12-1, the cham-pions of the Sea View League and the 2nd seed in the bracket. Coach Ernst Bucher’s team has won 11 in a row and features a defense that has barely allowed 100 points while scoring 476. On defense both Zach Ritner and Nolan Reeve have double digit sacks while QB Kevin Brown is nearing 3200 yards in passing and has thrown for 25 TDs. The Cougars look to cap a dream season with their fi rst CIF tle.

DIVISION 6- Paraclete at Los Altos, Friday December 2nd, 7:00 pm, Fox Sports Prep Zone Two programs with rich CIF tle success meet in the Division 6 fi nal.Paraclete con nues a recent run of success with this appearance in a CIF fi nal, the programs

fi rst since 2014. The Spirts were the runner ups of the Gold Coast League and hold a 9-4 record. In his fi rst season at the helm Coach Dean Herrington has con nued his winning ways, by building a balanced team that has nearly scored 400 points while barely allowing 250. Coach Herrington looks to add to his own personal resume and the Spirits seek their 9th CIF tle.

Los Altos is back in a familiar place, with another appearance in a CIF Final for the fi rst me since 2014. The Conquerors are the top seed in the bracket, champions of the Hacienda League and hold a 13-0 record. Coach Dale Ziola’s team has scored nearly 500 points and have barely allowed 200. RB Tyler Nevens leads the off ense as he has rushed for over 2200 yards and nearly 40 TDs. On defense Gil Vasquez and Michael Saucedo have over 130 tackles and Jayson Jones has double digit sacks. Los Altos seeks the programs 12th CIF tle.

DIVISION 7- Norte Vista at San Gorgonio, Friday December 2nd, 7:00pm, Fox Sports Prep Zone Stout defense could be the name of the game in the Division 7 fi nal. Norte Vista arrives at its fi rst CIF Final which caps off an impressive run of playoff appearances

over the last two decades. The Braves are 11-2, the 4th seed in the bracket and the champions of the River Valley league. Coach Ken Batdorf’s team has won 9 in a row, has scored 489 points and have a s ngy defense. RB Eric Melesio has had an impressive season rushing for 4194 yards and 53 TDs, while Isaiah Hughes and Mar n Solano have over 100 tackles each. The Braves seek their fi rst CIF tle.

DIVISION 8-Burbank at Yorba Linda, Friday December 2nd, 7:00pm, Fox Sports Prep Zone Programs looking for their fi rst CIF crown highlight the Division 8 fi nal.Burbank has arrived at its fi rst CIF Final game. The Bulldogs are 10-3, and were the runner ups

of the Pacifi c League. Coach Richard Broussard’s has a balanced squad that has scored 494 points while allowing just over 200. QB Guy Gibbs has thrown for over 2200 yards and over 20 TDs, RBs Darnell Williams and Nicholas Warren both have double digit rushing TDs and Jake Kelley is responsible for six turnovers and double digit sacks. Burbank seeks to claim its fi rst CIF crown.

Yorba Linda makes its inaugural appearance in a CIF Final. The Mustangs are 11-2 and the sec-ond team out of the Crestview League. Coach Jeff Bailey’s team has barely allowed 200 points while scoring over 350. The Mustangs showcase a variety of weapons on off ense while Noah Lines has over 100 tackles and responsible for four turnovers. The Mustangs seek the programs fi rst CIF tle.

DIVISION 9- Silverado at Valley Chris an/Cerritos, Saturday December 3rd, 7:00pm, Fox Sports Prep Zone

Two teams on 11 game winning streaks meet in the Division 9 fi nal.Sliverado makes its fi rst appearance in a CIF fi nal game. The Hawks are 11-2, the champions

of the Desert Sky League and the 3rd seed in the bracket. Coach Rafael Ginorio’s team has won 11 in a row, and is solid on both sides of the ball. QB Levi Taylor has thrown for 3706 yards and 44 TDs, 18 of which have been caught by Daniel Dexter. Mitchell Hamilton has over 100 tackles on defense. The Hawks look to bring home their fi rst CIF crown.

Valley Chris an of Cerritos makes its fi rst CIF Finals appearance since 2002. The Crusaders are the top team in the bracket, the champions of the Olympic League and have an 11-2 record. Coach Woodie Grayson’s team has won 11 in a row while scoring over 550 points in the process. RB Gianni Hurd has rushed for over 1700 yards and 27 TDs while Darien Green, Jalen Hines and RJ Van Kampen each have over 100 tackles on defense. The Crusaders look to bring the school its 3rd CIF tle.

DIVISION 10- St. Anthony at Aquinas, Friday December 2nd, 7:00 pm Defense could tell the tale in the Division 10 fi nal.St. Anthony arrives at the CIF Finals for the fi rst me since 1948. The Saints are 11-2 and were

the champions of the Santa Fe League. Coach Mario Morales’s team has won 8 games in a row, has scored over 600 points and has barely allowed 200 points on defense. QB John Buksa has passed for over 2200 yards and over 20 TDs while three RB’s have added double digit rushing touchdowns. On defense Dominick Tucker has 8 of the teams 33 sacks. St. Anthony’s seeks the programs 2nd CIF tle.

Aquinas makes its 3rd CIF Finals appearance in the last 16 years. The Falcons were co-champi-ons of the Ambassador League, the 2nd seed in the bracket, and have an 11-2 record. Coach Jordan Brusig’s team has barely allowed 200 points, while scoring 535. RB Branden Rankins has rushed for over 2000 yards and over 20 TDs while the defense has forced double digit turnovers. Aquinas seeks the programs 3rd CIF crown.

DIVISION 11- Valley View at Quartz Hill, Saturday December 3rd, 7:00 pm, Fox Sports Prep Zone Valley View makes its fi rst CIF fi nals appearance since its 2nd place fi nish in 2001. The Eagles

were the 3rd team out of the Inland Valley League and hold a 10-3 record. Coach Daniel Barage is in

DIVISION 11 (Cont.): charge of a squad on a 7 game winning streak and has scored over 500 points. RB Jus n Keeling has rushed for over 1500 yards and more than 20 TDs while Rudy Lovato and Dwight Brown also have double digit rushing TDs. Paul Hughes leads the defense by being responsible for 7 turnovers. Valley View looks to bring home its fi rst CIF tle.

Quartz Hill is appearing in the programs 3rd CIF tle game and has split its previous two trips. The Rebels are the third seed from the Golden League and sport a 10-3 record. Coach James Vondra’s team is solid on defense and have barely allowed 200 points on the season. RB Manny Thomas as rushed for over 1400 yards and double digit TDs while Antonio Lujan is responsible for double digit sacks and 4 turnovers. Quartz Hill seeks the schools 2nd CIF crown.

DIVISION 12- Rancho Mirage at Arroyo, Saturday December 3rd, 7:00 pm Fox Sports Prep Zone Points could be aplenty in the Division 12 fi nal. Rancho Mirage makes its fi rst appearance in a CIF fi nal. The Ra lers are 11-2, the champions

of the De Anza League and were the 2nd seed in the bracket. Coach Larry Ma hews’s team has won 8 in a row, scored over 430 points and have a defense that has barely allowed 130. RB Kyle Whi ield has rushed for over 1250 yards and over 20 TDs to lead a rushing unit responsible for more than 50 touch-downs. The defensive unit has over 30 sacks led by 12 from Joshua Ramirez. Ranch Mirage looks to bring the school its fi rst ever CIF tle.

Arroyo returns to the CIF Finals for the fi rst me since 1991. The Knights are 12-1, the top seed in the bracket and the champions of the Mission Valley League. Coach Jim Singiser’s team has not bare-ly allowed 170 points all season long and has scored over 430. QB Ernesto Camacho has passed for over 2100 yards and over 20 TDs, while Knight RBs have combined for 30 rushing TDs. Yezden Marquez has nearly 50 tackles and is responsible for 8 turnovers on defense. Arroyo seeks to claim the programs 2nd CIF tle.

DIVISION 13-Santa Ana at Rancho Chris an, Saturday December 3rd, 7:00pm, Fox Sports Prep Zone The ball could be fl ying in the Division 13 fi nal. Santa Ana is back in a CIF Final for the fi rst me since 1986. The Saints are 13-0, the champions

of the Golden West League and were the top seed in the bracket. Coach Charlie TeGantvoort’s team has scored over 400 points while barely allowing 150. QB Damien Macias and RB Jorge Briseno lead the off ense while Kevin Cea anchors the strong defense. Santa Ana seeks the schools 7th CIF tle.

Rancho Chris an arrives at its fi rst CIF fi nal game. The Eagles are the champions of the South Valley League, the 2nd seed in the bracket and have an 11-2 record. Coach Jim Kunua’s team has won 8 game in a row, scoring over 460 points and barely allowed 250. Championships this Saturday, December 3. The game will be the Division 1 Championship at 7:30 p.m. Fox Sports West will televise the Division 1 Championship. Tickets to the Division 1 Championships are 18.00 (Reserved Club Level), $15.00 (Field and

Terrace Level General Admission) and $7.00 (General Admission Student Ticket w/I.D. and Children Ages 5-13). Advanced ckets are available through the par cipa ng schools and the Angel Stadium Box

CIF-SS FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP BLOGGING POLICYEach Creden al Holder (including television, Internet, new media, and print publica ons) has

the privilege to blog during compe on through the Creden al En ty. However, the blog may not produce in any form a “real- me” descrip on of the event. Re-

al- me is defi ned by the CIF-SS as a con nuous play-by-play account or live, extended live/real- me sta s cs, or detailed descrip on of an event. Live-video/digital images or live audio are not permi ed.

Each of the aforemen oned descrip ons is exclusive to the CIF-SS Web site and/or any other Web site designated by the CIF-SS and its rights holders.

Periodic updates of scores, sta s cs or other brief descrip ons of the compe on throughout the event are acceptable.

Creden al Holder agrees that the determina on of whether a blog is pos ng a real- me de-scrip on shall be in the CIF-SS’ sole discre on. If the CIF-SS deems that a Creden al Holder is producing a real- me descrip on of the contest, the CIF-SS reserves all ac ons against Creden al Holder, includ-ing but not limited to the revoca on of the creden al.

If media intend to blog at a CIF-SS championship event, the media en ty must indicate so through the creden aling process.

Any media en ty pos ng a blog during a CIF-SS championship must submit a direct link to the blog to www.cifss.org. In return, all media en es entering a blog must post the CIF-SS logo/link on their site. All blogs must be free of charge to readers. All must adhere to the condi ons and limita ons of this CIF-SS Blogging Policy.

Video “blogging” or “Periscoping” of a CIF-SS event may not exceed more than 15 total minutes in dura on and cannot include consecu ve game ac on.

The CIF-SS and its designated championship personnel shall be the fi nal authority on whether a Creden al Holder or Creden al En ty is following the CIF-SS Blogging Policy.
