MnSCU’s Strategic Plan for 2006-2010
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, as a major partner in educating Minnesota’s workforce, will participate in
identifying and meeting regional and statewide economic development priorities.
“Leadership Reaches Out to Business” is one of four initiatives that comprise
Workforce of the Future, an initiative of the system’s 2009 Action Plan.
Workforce of the Future - Purpose
• To create regional prosperity and community success through outreach and enhanced educational services to Minnesota businesses.
• Strategies will focus intensively on the workforce needs of industry (initially, the manufacturing sector).
Four Initiatives
I. Leadership Reaches Out to Business
II. Business Response System – Manufacturing Pilot
III. Connecting with Business – Public Relations
IV. Leveraging Partnerships and Promoting Innovation
The outcomes of these visits are to:
• Extend the outreach of the system’s institutions to understand both economic and workforce needs of the state’s employers;
• Provide responsive education programs, services, applied research and customized training solutions statewide to meet these needs;
• Create a synergy between college/university leaders and business leaders in the region and state; and
• Standardize a methodology to transcribe and interpret input from CEOs and other business leaders for future system-wide initiatives and planning.
Thank you!
