Notes / Tips:Suitable Material: 100% cotton flannelette, 100% bamboo fabric or 100% cotton fabricNew material on bolts: New materials on bolts are 112cm width and I'm all about using

material efficiently at least possible cost.

So cut at 25cm x 112cm. Leave selvedge and make your seam at this point as narrow

as possible. 4cm less on finish size length will not impact on bat pups and will make a

huge difference in the efficient use of fabric. Recycling Fabric – Sheets / Flannelette sheets – cut at 25cm x 120cm and make as per

normal***If using recycled flannelette - make sure absolute NO piling at all - any piling (tiny

round fluff balls) causes injury to baby pups and bat wrap is unusuable Poly Filling for pillows – K-Mart has poly filled pillows at $4.50 for 2 or raid op-shops for

used pillows and enjoy ripping the stuffing out of it What Material do you prefer: Anything that is suitableIf you have flannelette – use that. If you have cotton – use that, If you have both –

make both.STUFFING PILLOWSThis is direct from Director of Bat Sanctuary"Pls though, for the baby bat pups we dont need them so firm as there little arms don't

go right round".Don't over stuff and don't leave "floppy"Fill evenly so that you can compress the pillow a half of the way". So not as hard as a

memory foam pillow and not as soft as a poly filled human pillow.

This should not make it easier to stitch around. If you can't stitch around - too much

stuffing

BAT WRAPS 101Everything (plus more) that you ever wanted to know about bat wraps…

1. What are bat wraps?Bat wraps are used to wrap baby bats that have been injured, orphaned or abandoned.

It makes them easier to handle, but more importantly it simulates their natural

environment. There are two main types of bat wraps”

· “Mumma rolls” or “Bat Wraps” are rectangle wraps with an attached (sewn-in)

pillow; or· “Flat wraps” or “Bat Burrito” are square or rectangular wraps without an attached

pillow. Sometimes a separate pillow or “Mumma pillow” is used with one. Please refer to the last page of this document for some photographic examples of the

different wraps.
