What EXACTLY is Arson? Arson is the crime of intentionally and

maliciously setting fire to buildings, wild lands areas, vehicles or other property with the intent to cause damage.

A person who commits this crime is called an  arsonist.

More often arsonists use accelerants (such as gasoline or kerosene) to cause and directionalize fires.

Serial Arsonists A Serial Arsonist is someone who habitually and

compulsively sets fires. It has been noted that many serial arsonists are actually frustrated or psychologically ill ex-firefighters who fall into the category of Pyromaniacs.

What is their job?A firefighter also known as a fireman, is

a rescuer extensively trained in firefighting, primarily to extinguish hazardous fires that threaten property and civilian or natural populations and to rescue people from dangerous situations, like collapsed or burning buildings.

Response Planning when ARSON detected...

Call 911 for police and fire assistance. Stop all work immediately. Check rooms (if indoors) to ensure no one is

left behind. Stay low, crawl if necessary to avoid smoke and

toxic gases. Cover your mouth and nose with a damp cloth to

help you breathe, if possible. Exit quickly, but do not run.
