AMU ALIGARH

Session 2015-2016

Summary of Sports Achievement & Infrastructure Development

1. The Aligarh Muslim University Tennis team won Gold Medal in

the North Zone Intervarsity Tennis (Men's) Tournament for the

fourth time beating Chandigarh University Mohali in the final

match.

2. The Aligarh Muslim University Tennis team won Gold Medal in the All

India Intervarsity Tennis (Men's) Tournament held at Devi Ahilya

University Indore, held in February 2016.

3. AMU Cricket team won Gold Medal the North Zone Intervarsity

Cricket (Men) tournament defeating University of Delhi in final

match.

4. The AMU Volleyball team won the Gold Medal in Volleyball

Competition at Annual Sports Meet FIESTA 2015-16 organized by

Integral University, Lucknow from 02-04 November 2015.

5. The Volleyball teams won Silver Medals both in Men & Women at

Volleyball competitions organized on the occasion of Annual

Exhibition & Agricultural Fests by District Administration held in

6. AMU Athletic team participated in 24th UP State Open Athletics

Championship 2016 on 12th & 13th of April 2016 held at Sports

Stadium Aligarh and got Silver Medal in 4x100 meter Relay Race

(Asif Ali C., Gagan, Taufeeq,Vikas) and Mr. Dulal SK Got Bronze

Medal in Shot Put and Poonam Singh got Bronze Medal in Triple

Jump.

7. Chandril Sood and Lakshit Sood of Tennis Club AMU participated in

various National and International level Tennis tournaments

organized by ATP, ITF and AITA.

8. Eight students of AMU (Ravinder Singh, Mirza Hashir Beg,

Tahmeed Ahmad, Gavendra Goswami, Saleem Ansari, Mohd

Sultan, Slaman Ahmad Khan & S. Saad Ghazanfar) selected for

North Zone Vizzy Trophy Cricket Tournament. The Vizzy Trophy

was held at Delhi from 27.03.2016 to 06.04.2016.

9. Five Students of AMU (Shayan Siraj, Umed Ali, Preeti , Afra

Khanam & Samar Rahat) selected in Aligarh District Volleyball

teams and participated in 64th Senior UP State Volleyball

Tournament held at Ghaziabad from 5-11 November 2015.

10. Ms. Sara Naqvi, member of Badminton club participated in various

national and Inter National competition during the 2015-16.

national and Inter National competition during the 2015-16.

12. Six students of AMU (Adeeb Anwar Mustafa, Mohd Harris, Mohd

Yaqzan, Mohd Labeeb Akbar, Mohd Areeb, Mohd Umar Arif)

Selected in UP team for participation in 53rd National Roller Hockey

Championship held at Vishakapatnam from 20-31 January 2016.

13. Mr. Mohd Sabir, Squash Player of the university has been selected in

Uttar Pradesh team to participate in National Games 2016.

14. The Aligarh Muslim University organized North Zone Intervarsity

Tennis (Men) Tournament 2015-2016 from 4-11 November 2015.

36 University team sent their entries for this tournament and 24

participated.

15. The Aligarh Muslim University organized North Zone Intervarsity

Cricket (Men) Tournament 2015-2016 from 19.11.2015 to

07.12.2015. 65 University team sent their entries for this tournament

and 55 participated.

16. Board of Control of Cricket in India/Uttar Pradesh Cricket

Association has allotted 3 day cricket match for the Vijay Merchant

Trophy (Under-16) which was played at the Willingdon Cricket

Pavilion, Aligarh Muslim University from 11th to 13th December

2015.

17. University Games Committee organized Republic Day Run on the

occasion of Republic Day Celebration 2016 on 24.01.2016 in which

a large number of students (Boys and Girls) participated in various age

group. Cash Prize was also awarded by the Vice-Chancellor AMU to

the Winners during the Republic Day Programme held on

26.01.2016.

18. An Electronic score Board has been installed at Willingdon Cricket

Pavilion by donation of Mr. Bayar Mustafa Khan former member of

AMU Cricket team. The score board was inaugurated by Honorable

Vice-Chancellor on 07.12.2015

19. 43 Lacs has been sanctioned for construction of Table Tennis Hall in

the Games Committee Complex. The work of construction is under way

and will be completed soon.

20. The spectators stand at Synthetic Surface Hockey Ground is under

construction at a cost of 1 core and will be completed in due course

of time.

21. A selection trial by the Sports Authority of India was held at AMU to

select the probable in DBS Scheme at SAI Extension Centre, AMU.

16 probable were selected in this scheme for the session 2016-17.

22. On compellation of 100 years of Meston Swimming Bath, the

Swimming club is going to celebrate Golden Jubilee Celebration by

invitation some National and International Swimmer and alumni of

AMU.

23. The Cricket Club purchased Two side screen and a Pitch Cover to

increase the facilitates for students.

24. Mr. Faisal Sherwani, coach of AMU Cricket Club was selected the

coach of North Zone Vizzy Trophy Cricket tournament 2015-16.

2015-2016

match. The score was 2-0.

6. The summer coaching camp for students of Schools and Colleges of

Aligarh District was organized by AMU Tennis Club from 22.05.2015 to

08.06.2015. 65 Students including female students took part in this

coaching camp. The certificate distribution function was held on

09.06.2015.

2015-2016

1. AMU Cricket team won (Gold Medal) the North Zone Intervarsity

Cricket (Men) tournament defeating University of Delhi in final

match.

2. AMU Cricket team participated in All India Intervarsity Cricket (Men)

tournament held at Saveetha University Chennai in February 2016.

3. The Aligarh Muslim University organized North Zone Intervarsity

Cricket (Men) Tournament 2015-2016 from 19.11.2015 to

07.12.2015. 65 University team sent their entries for this tournament and

55 participated.

10. Inter faculty Teacher’s Cricket tournament was held from 28.12.2015

to 06.01.2016.

11. Summer Coaching camp was organized for schoolboys in May 2015.

133 school boys applied for coaching camp and about 75 students was

selected in camp. Certificates distribution function was held on

31.05.2015.

12. Inter Hall Cricket Tournament was held from 25.02.2016 to

05.03.2016. Aftab Hall won the Championship defeating MM Hall team in

final by 6 Wickets.

Volleyball Club

2015-2016

1. The AMU Volleyball team won the GOLD MEDAL in Volleyball Competition

at Annual Sports Meet FIESTA 2015-16 organized by Integral

University, Lucknow from 02-04 November 2015.

Volleyball competitions organized on the occasion of Annual

6. Inter Hall Volleyball Tournament for the session 2015-16 was held

from 17-20 February 2016. MM Hall team was Winner and M. Habib

team was Runner’s up in final match. The score was 3-1.

Badminton Club

2015-2016

1. AMU Badminton Team (M&W) participated in North Zone Intervarsity

Badminton Tournament organized by MDU, Rohtak from 28.09.2015

to 05.10.2015.

2. Ms. Sara Naqvi, member of Badminton club participated in various

national and Inter National competition during the 2015-16.

3. Mr. Arsalan Naqvi member of Badminton club participated in various

national and Inter National competition during the 2015-16.

4. Inter Hall Badminton Tournament was held from 19-23 February 2016.

Sir Syed Hall (South) team won the Championship defeating NRSC in

finals by 2-0.

Table Tennis Club 2015-2016

1 AMU Table Tennis team participated North Zone Intervarsity Table

Tennis tournament held at University of Delhi from 16.12.2015 to

19.12.2015.

2 43 Lacs has been sanctioned for construction of Table Tennis Hall in the

Games Committee Complex. The work of construction is under way and

1. The AMU Basketball Men team participated in North Zone

Intervarsity Basketball (Men) Tournament organized by MJP

Rohilkhand University, Bareilly from 21-25 December 2015.

2. The AMU Basketball Men team participated also in Lakshaya-2016

organized by Purnima University Jaipur held in March 2016.

3. The AMU Basketball Women team participated in North Zone

Intervarsity Basketball (Women) Tournament organized by Jamia

Hamdard University, New Delhi, from 3-9 November 2015.

4. Basketball club organized summer coaching camp for schools of Aligarh

District in May 2015

5. The Inter Hall basketball tournament for the session 2015-16 was

held from 23-28 February 2016, in which NRSC Hall was winner and Sir

Ziauddin was runner. The score was 84-56.

2015-2016

1. The AMU Riding team gave the salute and ceremonial squad to Mr. Abdu

Rabb, Chief Guest & Minister of Education, Kerala on occasion of Sir

Syed Day 2015.

2. The AMU Riding team gave the salute and ceremonial squad to Dr.

Frank F. Islam, Chief Guest, Chairman and CEO of FI Investment

Group, USA on the occasion of Annual Convocation held on

27.02.2016.

3. The AMU Riding team gave the salute and ceremonial squad for Peer

Team for the National Board of Accreditation to Z.H. College of

Engineering & Technology on 20.02.2016.

4. AMU Riding team participated in the National Equestrian

Championship/Delhi Horse Show 2016 held from 25.03.2016 to

04.04.2016. 08 boys and 01 girls students participated in the various

events.

Skating Club

2015-2016

1. The members of the skating Club participated in 4th All India Jeevan

Singh Virk Memorial Roller Skating Championship held at

Dronacharya Stadium Kurukshetra (HR) from 14-21 August 2015.

2. Six students of AMU (Adeeb Anwar Mustafa, Mohd Harris, Mohd

Yaqzan, Mohd Labeeb Akbar, Mohd Areeb, Mohd Umar Arif)

category of in 53rd National Roller Hockey Championship held at

Vishakapatnam from 20-31 January 2016.

4. Inter Hall Roller Hockey tournament was held from 21-23 February

2016. Roller Hockey teams of various halls participated in Inter Hall Roller

Hockey Tournament. NRSC was Winner, and ST School team was

Runner’s up in the Championship. The score was 8-4.

5. Organized summer Coaching Camps for University students and school

boys.

Swimming Club

2015-2016

1. On compellation of 100 years of Meston Swimming Bath, the

Swimming club is going to celebrate Golden Jubilee Celebration by

invitation some National and International swimmer and alumni of

AMU.

2. The AMU Swimming team participated in All India Intervarsity Aquatic

Championship organized by Punjab University Chandigarh, from 18-

26 October 2015.

3. The AMU Swimming team participated Senior UP State Swimming

Championship organized by UP Swimming Association from 17-21

September 2015.

4. Students of AMU Schools Mohd Adi, Mohd Wahid, Syed Kashif, Syed

Areeb Ahmad, were selected in Aligarh District Swimming team to

represent Junior UP State Swimming Championship 2016.

5. The Work of construction of 50 meters Olympic size swimming pool is

going to complete shortly. The university students will be benefited with

a great facility of International size swimming pool.

6. Inter Hall Swimming Competition was held on 11.10.2015. Students

of various halls and schools took part in various events under their

respective category and age groups.

Hiking & Mountaineering Club

2015-2016

1. The Club organized (10 Kms for Men and 05 Kms for Boys/Girls)

“Membership Trekking trial” on 06.03.2016 in which more than 450

students participated. 300 male and 150 female students of AMU

participated in the trial for membership.

2. 20 students were sent for Adventure Mountaineering Course from

20th to 26th March 2014 at Dehradun / Sahastradhara (Uttrakhand).

3. 22 students were sent for Adventure Mountaineering Course from

18-24 November 2015 at Dehradun / Sahastradhara (Uttrakhand).

4. 22 students were sent for Adventure Mountaineering Course from

18-24 November 2015 at Dehradun / Sahastradhara (Uttrakhand).

5. 23 female students were sent for Adventure Mountaineering Course

from 16-22 February 2016 at Dehradun / Sahastradhara (Uttrakhand).

Football Club

2015-2016

1. The Aligarh Muslim University Football team participated in the

North Zone Intervarsity organized by Amity University Noida

from December 2015. Team win 02 Knockout match and lost 3rd

match against Kumaun Nainital on Tiebreaker basis.

2. The Aligarh Muslim University Football team participated in

invitational UP State Football tournament organized by Shah

Football Club at Chandosi (UP) from 03.02.2016 to 08.03.2016 in

which team reach up to Semi Final.

3. Football Club organized Summer Coaching Camp from different

schools of Aligarh District in May-June 2015 in this different age

group. 150 students participate in the Camp in the both sessions.

4. Mr. Shubham Loachan, Mr. Zeeshan and Mr. Azharuddin played

in Delhi League for Delhi Club.

5. AMU, Football Club organized the Inter Hall Football Tournament

from 04.03.2016 to 16.03.2016 in this NRSC defeated MM Hall on

tiebreaker basis. The score was 5-4.

6. AMU, Football Club organized the regular practice for University

student around 30 to 35 player regularly played on ground.

Hockey Club

2015-2016

1. The University Hockey team participated in the North Zone Intervarsity

Hockey Tournament held at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi from

26.12.2015 to 04.01.2016. The team won three matches against

opponents and lost Punjabi University Patiala in quarter final.

2. The club organized Summer Coaching Camp for Aligarh School boys in

May-June 2015. The Certificates Distribution function was held on

15.06.2015.

3. The hockey club organized Inter Hall Hockey Tournament for the

session 2015-16 from 25.02.2016 to 06.03.2016. MM Hall won the

tournament defeating SS (North) in final. The score was 3-0.

select the probable in DBS Scheme at SAI Extension Centre, AMU. 16

Athletic Club

2015-2016

1. Athletics club Organized 1st AMU Inter School Athletics Meet

exclusively for the AMU Student from 31st October to 01st November

2015 at Athletics ground in which more than 750 Athletic were

participated in various events.

2. AMU Athletics team participated in All India Intervarsity Athletic Meet

in December 2015 which was held at Punjabi University Patiala. There

were 42 members participated. In 4x100 meter Relay Race the team

qualified up to Semi Finals. Mr. Asif Ali C, Taufeq Aslam AZ, taufeeq Khan

and Vikas performed very well. Ms. Bhagya Shree qualified for final in

10,000 meters race.

3. The Athletics club organized by 1st Farhan Memorial Open District

Athletics Meet 2016 at the Athletic ground on 30th and 31st January

2016 in which more than 2000 Athlete of Aligarh District were

participated. AMU Athletic team declared as Overall Champion.

4. The Athletics club organized 1st Kids Open District Athletics Meet on

20th February 2016 at Athletic ground exclusively for the School Boys &

Girls for the various schools of Aligarh District in which 1200 Athletes

participated.

5. Republic Day Run (Cross Country competition) was held on 24th

January 2016 as part of Republic Day Celebration. The Race was

started from Athletic ground. A large number of students participated in

the Race.

6. A Water cooler has been installed at Athletics Ground donated by Mr. Alay

Haider former Captain Athletics Club which was inaugurated by Registrar

AMU on 11.05.2016.

7. AMU Athletics Club organized 90th Annual Inter Hall Athletics Meet

2016 at Athletic ground on 28th February 2016. ST School team won the

overall championship and Sir Syed Hall North team in final.

8. AMU Athletic team participated in 24th UP State Open Athletics

Championship 2016 held on 12th & 13th April 2016 at Sports Stadium

Aligarh. 27 Athlete were participated in the said competition. AMU got

Silver medals in 4x100 meter Relay Race the participants of Relay

were Asif Ali C., Gagan, Taufeeq, Vikas and Mr. Dulal SK Got Bronze

Medal in Shot Put and Poonam Singh got Bronze Medal in Triple Jump.

9. The Athletics Club organized Sumer Coaching Camp for school children in

May/June 2015. A large number of students in various age group

participated and learn skill of their event.

2015-2016

1. The AMU Gymnasium team participated in All India Intervarsity

Weightlifting, Power Lifting & Best Physique (Men) Championship

2015-16 organized by Acharya Nagarjuna University Guntur from

07.01.2016 to 17.01.2016.

2. AMU, Gymnasium Club organized the Inter Hall Power Lifting, Weight

Lifting and Body Building Competitions on 11.04.2016.

1. AMU Wrestling participated in All India Intervarsity Wrestling

(Men) Championship 2015-16 organized by University of Mysore,

Mysuru, from 14-24 January 2016.

2. Inter Hall & Open District Wrestling Competition was held on 12.04.2016.

Students from various Halls participated in the Inter hall tournaments

wrestlers from various club participated in District Competition. Best

Wrestler title was awarded to Mr. Mohd Shoib of NRSC.
