An opening of lighting as our group has decided will be the use of an eyelid over the camera. I believe this is effective due to the fact that skins has used a similar technique although we will not use a green filter but adopt it to maybe weak blue filter to portray the coldness of the situation.

If we ever need to use an external shot of course teens perceptions would be that it would be all sunny and everything due to the fact that in the story however this may not be possible due to the lacklustre conditions we have in this country and in addition this may not be suitable as our story is a drama which may not necessarily conclude in happy moments.

A further typical use of party lighting which is common in teen drama’s is a dark room which can easily be created by shooting at nigh in a dark room or closing the blinds at daytime. As for the actual red effect this can be easily achieved by using a electronic filter when editing or another method would be to out red see through filter over the camera lens when shooting.

To portray a teenager would of course need a close up which is what skins have done to make into a successful teen drama as it is obvious through in this close up stereotypically teenagers wear a lot of make up and have no wrinkles (females).

If we are going to film as the genre being based around teen drama then there would be no other place to film than where teenager in skins and in general hang around which is urban areas the above picture clearly portrays.

In addition to having a stereotypical background and environment for teens in a teen drama a further component to the mise en

scene is of course costume which in the skins case will have to be colourful but not in all cases. However all teens wear casual

clothes due to the fact that there is no formal wear as they are not in the process of employment unless your a teen over 16.

Furthermore an attractive teen aimed logo is essential to a successful production. Skins have done this as well as keeping the theme realistic by incorporating a black background to represent how the world externally view them as being dark, cold but inside the are actually very colourful and warm which is represented by the colourful text.

Furthermore another additional activity which is common for teenager is the underage use of illegal drugs for example marijuana and cigarettes. This is also showed in skins and a close up of the teenager is shown to make the scene ultra realistic.

It is common for teenager’s to do cool things such as drink alcohol even though they are underage it is deemed cool and you can move up social hierarchy because of the illegal action. This is done in skins to make the audience feel as if they are actually looking at teenagers as this is what they stereotypically do.
