Confidence

Prioritization Center your energy on your goals and responsibilities.

Try to avoid unnecessary distractions that you’ve hired others to solve or that aren’t really worth your time at all.

Discipline Stick to the plan. Pivots are often necessary, but don’t

jump at every new opportunity that pops up.

Lack of discipline can cause the smallest habits to spiral out of control quickly.

Decisiveness Don’t waste too much time contemplating your future

actions. Analyze the situation, make the decision, learn from it, and move on.

You’re going to make mistakes, but that’s what a startup is all about.

Determination Put your decisions into effect and make sure you get the

results you want. Stay resolute in proving your assumptions.

You’re going to run into some hurdles that make you feel like the world is over, but remember that your company is something definitely worth fighting for.

Inquisitiveness Look at what’s working and what isn’t, and don’t be afraid

to ask questions.

Always be curious and eager for new knowledge. You’re growing your company, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop growing as a person.

Introspection Look at what you’re doing, and figure out what’s working

and what isn’t. You don’t want your personal processes to be the problem.

It can be tough to take a hard look at yourself so it doesn’t hurt to ask someone else what you can be doing better.

Flexibility Not everything works all the time.

Wear a dynamic personality that reacts well to change when it comes to your startup and its employees, suppliers, customers, etc. These are not static entities so be patient.

Positivity Persevere through your challenges and see them as

opportunities to better yourself.

Negativity on your behalf is magnified through your employees. The mood doesn’t have to always be happy, but there needs to be a light at the end of every tunnel.

Modesty When it all goes well, celebrate but keep realistic

expectations for the next battle.

Never forget the ones that you depended on during the journey or underestimate the ones you’re going up against next.

Confidence You don’t want to get too full of yourself, but you’re still

the leader. Strength, bravery, and an overall sense of pride and ownership in your startup and team can go a long way.

Belief in the vision won’t make the path any easier, but it will make it a lot more manageable.
