NIK MAHERAN NIK MUHAMMAD, DBA
Nik Maheran Nik Muhammad is currently a Professor at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK).
Prior to joining UMK in April 2012, she has 10 years’ experience at Universiti Teknologi and
the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia. She started her career as an Investment analyst at
KLSE after graduation in year 1989 and left in1991 to work with the government sector.
She graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration (Finance) from University of
Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA; Masters in Business Administration from Universiti Utara
Malaysia; and Doctor of Business Administration from Universiti Sains Malaysia. In year
2011, she earned a Postdoctoral fellowship from National Centre of Islamic Studies,
University of Melbourne, Australia. Professionally, she is a CITM (chartered Institute
Taxation of Malaysia), FPAM (Financial Planning Association of Malaysia), Institute of
Bankers Malaysia (IBBM) and a Distinguish Fellow of Global Strategic Management Inc. USA.
Along her career with UiTM, she has taught courses in Taxation, Finance, Banking and
Management for diploma, undergraduate and Masters level. She has also supervised more
than 100 BBA, Masters and PhD students. She has graduated two PhD students in the field
of Finance and Management. Her research interests are in the area Islamic finance and
management, leadership and decision making and tourism management.
Nik Maheran also does consultancy and training work. She has given training and
consultation in the area of financial planning, investment planning and tax planning to and
provide consultancy on Internal Control system and Human resource management for
several companies. Furthermore, she has conducted seminars and workshops on image
building and enhancement, customer service, and financial, tax and investment planning for
corporations, government bodies, hospitals and women organizations.
