THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR

Activity #1

1. Take a KWL chart from the workstation set up in our classroom.

2. With your partner fill in the K and W part of the KWL chart about the Revolutionary War. Remember the K is for what you already know about the Revolutionary War. The W is for any questions you have about the Revolutionary War. We will fill in the L part at the end of the unit.

1. With your partner reread page 26 in your social studies book about the Boston Tea Party.

2. Click on the link above. This is a link of a letter written by John Andrews about the Boston Tea Party.

3. Take a NARA written document form from the workstation.

4. Fill out the NARA form for the John Andrews letter.

5. Share your filled out form with your partner.

6. Turn your finished form in to the finished work tray on my desk.

4. In your journal answer the questions on the right side of this slide in complete sentences.

pictures. 4. Using the information you put on the Venn Diagram write a

paragraph about how the pictures are alike and different. Do not forget your topic sentence!

5. Think about what we have discussed about persuasion and propaganda. Take notes in your journal about how these pictures are showing examples of those words. Be ready to discuss as a class.

1. Complete the KW part of the KWL chart on the constitution. Wait for further discussions. We will share this as a group.

2. Think about what we have discussed with the constitution and particular amendments.

3. Click on the link above. With your partner write down notes in your journal about why you think some of these specific amendments were made. Be ready to share as a class.

Final Activity Project: 1. With your partner decide if you want to change an amendment or make up a

new amendment. Your new amendment that you make up can be about anything but it must be something for all Americans to follow.

2. Rewrite your new amendment. Use the existing amendments as a guideline as to how to write your amendment.
