Zhi Ney ~ Calm abiding.

Zhi Ney meditation practice is like flowing water through movement, attainment, familiarity, immovability and perfection. It takes your mind, which is initially turbulent like a waterfall, through the stages of moving like a river in a deep gorge, bringing yourmind to a gentle flow of a great river, teaching your mind to blend teaching your mind to blend naturally and indivisibly with your mind like a pond undulating under a gentle breeze, and finally taking your mind to perfection like a great calm ocean free of surface waves

The Tibetan Bön practice of Zhi Ney (“calm abiding”) is very important to all meditation practitioners. Our mind (“Sem” in Tibetan) is a constant stream of non-stop thoughts, disturbing us so we are not able to remain focused, calm and peaceful in our meditation, and the purpose of our meditation will not be fulfilled. Without proper knowledge or guidance of these various techniques, many practitioners waste much valuable time and never realize the benefits of meditation.

Zhi Ney teaches us to establish a stable mind and control our concentration, allowing Zhi Ney teaches us to establish a stable mind and control our concentration, allowing us to find our focus and internal calm. This allows us to connect more deeply with our inner self, find peace and harmony. Then the joy of meditation will arise, and our meditation will become more productive and encouraging.

Zhi Ney practice is like the foundation of a house. The more stable the foundation, the better and safer the house. Likewise, through a stable, calm, clear and energetic Zhi Ney, our meditation becomes more relaxed and stable. Gradually our meditation develops and enters into the meditation develops and enters into the second and third stages of Zhi Ney, which ultimately give us great pleasure of body as well as mind. In addition, Zhi Ney allows us to develop the wisdom of “extra sight” (Tibetan “Lhag thong”).

Rinpoche will focus on introducing us to our mind, showing us the dimind, showing us the different stages of Zhi Ney, pointing out distractions to avoid, and improving the quality of our meditation.
