Tour 1 – Waitomo Caves, & Hobbiton Movie Set - Guided Full Day Tour

Waitomo Caves lie to the west of Rotorua in the lush Waitomo farmland. On arrival enjoy a guided tour through the world-renowned Waitomo Caves – see the ageless Stalactites & Stalagmites, Cathedral Cavern plus an unforgettable boat ride through the starry Glowworm Grotto. The second part of the day is spent at Hobbiton; the movie set location for Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit films, near the town of Matamata. Spend an informative 2 hour tour around the movie set location. Stand under the party tree, walk past the Hobbit holes, imagine yourself amongst the characters. Nestled deep in the rolling hills of the Waikato, this location was chosen for its unblemished landscape. Bilbo Baggins was no typical hobbit, he did not want adventure, but you will have to come and see why he was so reluctant to leave the comfort of The Shire. At the conclusion of your journey you get a special treat in the Green Dragon Inn where you will receive a local shire ale, cider or ginger beer.

Tour 2 – Tarawera, Geothermal Maori Village Legacy Tour

Experience the violent 1886 eruption of Tarawera Mountain at Rotorua Museum, explore the excavated site of Te Wairoa at the Buried Village and meet the descendants of the survivors of the eruption at Whakarewarewa Living Maori Village. A visit to the Buried Village is a fascinating experience as we explore the history of the Tarawera eruption, check out the museum and examine some of the artefacts that have been excavated. Lake Tarawera was formed at the time of the eruption, then it’s onto the Blue & Green Lakes to wonder at the distinctive colour difference and the tranquil setting. The Redwood Forest - a tribute to the foresight of our forefathers who looked far enough into the future to set about planning and planting this heritage for us to enjoy. Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley & Maori Village - No trip to the Rotorua area is complete without a visit to the Thermal activity area’s and contact with our Maori culture. Whakarewarewa or Whaka as it is more commonly known gives you both experiences in one place. Tour 3 – Rotorua Maori Culture, Geothermal Geysers & Skyline Adventures

Experience a full day of adventure & views of Rotorua from a whole different perspective. Let us introduce you to local Maori people in a living village. Come hear their stories, experience their cultures and way of life on top of the biggest geothermal valley in the heart of Rotorua. Experience Pohutu Geyser & bubbling hot steamy Mudpools. Then let’s go and have some fun. Enjoy a ride in the Skyline Gondola which gives you a stunning view over the lake and city – on arrival at the summit you can partake of a snack or a full meal from their buffet or restaurant. For the more adventurous you can experience the Luge. It is not as scary as it looks or sounds, you ride on three wheeled carts with unique braking and steering for full control. Three tracks to choose from – scenic, medium or advanced. Rainbow Springs & Big Splash - This Rotorua Icon has been around since 1932 but has kept pace with the times. Tour 4 – Rotorua’s Premium Day Tour - Te Puia, Lunch cruise on the Lakeland Queen, Agrodome & Government Gardens

Te Puia New Zealand’s premier Maori Cultural centre and home of the world famous Pohutu geyser. Enjoy a guided tour of this very well presented facility and a close up experience with thermal activity. Followed by a 45 minute cultural performance which includes the world renowned Maori Haka. Then a visit to the Arts and Crafts Institute where you will see firsthand the weaving and carving schools at work. You now board the Lakeland Queen – The only genuine Stern Wheeler in New Zealand to enjoy a one-hour lunch cruise on Lake Rotorua, followed by a visit to NZ’s own Mountain Jade factory , where you will see the exquisite display of artefacts that are produced by very experienced craftsmen as they work their skill on New Zealand Pounamu. Not only will you see the results but also you can see the carvers at work and converse with them as they work in their factory. Now it’s time to do something totally different and enjoy the true New Zealand Sheep Show at the Agrodome. Let’s begin your day with a visit to the Rotorua Museum, where you will begin to get an understanding of Rotorua, a place where tourism for New Zealand began. Experience what it feels like during a volcanic eruption with computer generated imagery & surround sounds. Now it’s time to go and see firsthand what a geyser , steaming fumaroles, boiling coloured lakes and bubbling mud looks like close up at Waimangu Volcanic Valley. You’ll see steaming hills, newly forming silica terraces and rare thermal plants. Relax on a boat cruise of Lake Rotomahana, a protected refuge for native and exotic birdlife with its own amazing geothermal features. The eruption of Mount Tarawera completely altered what was a sumptuous lifestyle and thriving community for Tuhourangi, the local Maori tribe. With their land now uninhabitable the survivors eventually relocated to Whakarewarewa, where they rebuilt their lives and independence. This afternoon you get to meet descendants of those survivors at New Zealand’s only tribally owned and managed, living, Maori and geothermal village. Tour 6 – Wai O Tapu, Huka Falls & Taupo Prawn Park

Wai-O-Tapu is considered to be New Zealand’s most colourful and diverse geothermal sightseeing attraction. You are introduced to a uniquely different natural landscape – one of the most extensive geothermal systems in New Zealand such as the spectacular Lady Knox Geyser and the world renowned Champagne Pool. Huka Falls are squeezed through a 20 metre wide gorge and over a 20m drop. The Falls are along the Waikato River, which is normally 100 meters wide and every second up to 220,000 liters of water gushes through the gorge and shoots out over 8 meters beyond to create a beautiful blue/green pool. They are such a spectacular sight.

Huka Prawn Park - On the banks of the beautiful Waikato River, just minutes from Taupo town centre, you will find the iconic and unique family playground, of Huka Prawn Park. With acres of land dedicated to the production of New Zealand fresh water prawns, and pure family fun. Come in and learn how we utilize Mother Nature to incubate & nurture the young prawn, or maybe you would like to try your hand at Prawn fishing. The restaurant will even cook your catch for you and they are just delicious. Lake Taupo lies in a caldera created by a super volcanic eruption which occurred approximately 26,500 years ago and Mount Ruapehu today proudly stands as the backdrop of the lake to enhance its vista.

Tour 7 – Come & Explore the Bay of Plenty There’s plenty for everyone to do.

Bay of Plenty was aptly named by Captain Cook on his inaugural navigation of New Zealand. Tauranga being the heart of the Bay of Plenty, is NZ’s best kept secret destination and we can offer you an extensive mix of sights and attractions, pristine white sandy beaches, arts & crafts, history, culture, fine food and wines. First let’s visit Experience Comvita – In Maori mythology - Tane the God of the forest explains how 800 years ago they used the many gifts of nature to help aid and support human wellness before you enter and explore the wonders of a ‘virtual beehive’ and learn the fascinating facts about bees their community and the properties of NZ Manuka honey. Next stop is Kiwi 360 – home of our robust Kiwifruit industry. Take the opportunity to ride the kiwi kart around the orchard, taste the fruit of both green & gold varieties, the nectar /juice, wines & liqueurs & natural preserves of jam & chutney.

Mount Maunganui is your next stop where you hop out and put your feet in the pristine white sandy beach and watch the surf roll in. Now it’s time for some local fresh fish & chips for lunch. Next stop is the Minden Lookout – high above the city of Tauranga to enjoy the panoramic view of the Bay before we head across the pasture land to McLaren Falls & Park, which abounds with a diverse range of specimen tree species & birdlife.
