Despite recent modern medical advances, cardiac arrest remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide. As a frequent cause of admission to intensive care, the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) has a special interest in highlighting this healthcare problem and guiding practitioners in its treatment, as the outcome of patients is strongly dependent on early adequate resuscitation.

Cardiac Arrest - From CPR to Recovery has been organised by ESICM in collaboration with the Croatian intensive care societies (CroSICM and CroSEMIC) and the European Resuscitation Council (ERC). A mixture of state of the art lectures and interactive sessions, this conference aims to provide an environment that is both enjoyable and conducive to learning, with these educational aims:

• bring together all professionals implicated in the care of cardiac arrest patients

• share experiences of healthcare professionals concerned by the chain of survival

• examine recent data and therapeutic advances that could change our practices

• describe the most frequent complications observed in post-cardiac arrest patients

• discuss the results of recent clinical research in temperature control

• discuss ethical problems raised by recent changes in treatment of cardiac arrest patients

Participants will not only benefit from the high quality presentations during this two-day conference, but in the evening, you have the opportunity to enjoy Zagreb, a city rich with culture, history, nature and a Mediterranean spirit and atmosphere… The unique blend of medieval towers, 19th century palaces, open-air markets, and ancient cathedrals, make Zagreb the perfect city to explore! While you are here, enjoy the nightly open-air summer concert in Park Ribnjak, explore one of the numerous discotheques or simply sit back and soak up the Zagreb coffee house culture in Ban Jelacic Square!

We are delighted to welcome you to Zagreb for Cardiac Arrest - From CPR to Recovery... Enjoy!
