About AIESEC

What We Envision

AIESEC is the global youth network impacting the world through lead-

ership development experiences. AIESEC has been facilitating youth

leadership activities as well as international internships & volunteer ex-

periences for over 65 years, developing a global learning environment

across 124 countries & territories.

Peace and fulfilment of humankind's potential.

AIESEC is a global, non-political, independent, not-for-profit organi-

zation run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher

education. Our members are interested in world issues, leadership

and management. AIESEC does not discriminate on the basis of

race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, creed, religion, national,

ethnic or social origin.

With the establishment of the first Local Committee (LC) in the University of

Hong Kong, AIESEC Hong Kong was introduced in 1967.

Together, we have created more than 500 team memberships from 7 LCs

in Hong Kong, including:

AIESEC conferences offer a platform for delegates all around the world

to discuss controversial issues. Not only can one interact with people

from different backgrounds, experiencing cultural shock, but also learn-

ing new perspectives to global affairs offered by people from other coun-

tries. AIESEC conferences are there to facilitate such exchanges among

delegates; one may experience cultural differences and pick up the

skills of give and take.

Throughout conferences, delegates are not left with excluded discus-

sions but exposed to a variety of talks and workshops where profession-

als and experts from different disciplines share their points of view. Such

talks offer the best guidance and hopefully give delegates insights to

their discussions. AIESEC conferences are there to inspire and motivate

delegates to think beyond their comfort zones.

A Place of Inspiration

Youth to Sustainability Summit (YS) is an international

platform for young leaders of tomorrow to explore, study

and discuss local and global social issues and propose

desirable and constructive ideas for policy consideration

in society. By the end of the Summit, there will be a Youth

Charter as the consensus of the young leaders across the

globe on a common vision and possible action steps by

various stakeholders.

LeaderShifttheCity

LeaderShift is a radical change from one way of thinking to another.

The term emerges as a title for a book when David Mersher, the successful

CEO of IndyTech turned things around and created stunning results in

America. We hope that the same can be applied here in Hong Kong.It is a

revolutionary transformation that our youth needs for finding,

recognizing and creating their future.

THEME

Objectives of YS2014

"Youth to Sustainability Summit" is an AIESEC international confer-

ence which aims to:

1. Awaken youth to their ability and role in being a change agent and

thus making positive changes in our society

2. Provide a platform where young leaders come together to voice

their concerns on major world and local issues and generate new,

actionable ideas about the future with a creative and critical mindset

tiveness, education plays an active

role on human capital development.

However, do universities provide

good environment for students to

equip certain knowledge, skills and

attitude?

Government always advocates the

importance of sustainable develop-

ment, which is striking balance be-

tween different aspects. Think again!

Are we really on the right track to

achieve sustainable living environ-

ment?

The committee looks into the root

causes of problems (Poverty, adoles-

cent problems, welfare resources

planning and allocation for elderly)

and explores youth’s role in society in

alleviating those problems through dif-

ferent approaches.

As Hong Kong economic competi-

tiveness is decreasing relatively and

facing many uprising competitors,

the committee investigates the prob-

lems and brainstorms ways to break

through the bottlenecks in order to

maintain the competitiveness and

sustainability in economic aspect.

As future leaders of Hong Kong, teenagers should know what is going on

in the city. In your daily life, your hectic schedule may keep you too busy

to heed what happens in our society. Here is the chance, YS provides dif-

ferent workshops and invites different guests to discuss hot topics with all

of you in different committees that you have chosen. Through YS, young

leaders will be given a chance to learn beyond classrooms, voice out your

ideas and do more for our society.

YS 2014 consists of local delegates and international delegates, so it is a

great chance for you to have a cultural interaction with international stu-

dents. Through discussion with foreigners, you can compare our society

with them in order to know how Hong Kong can perform better in the

future. Moreover, it is a great chance to make friends with foreigners from

all around the world in order to broaden your social circle which is benefi-

cial to your academics or even future career.
