EVENING SAILING Youth and juniors sail together every Wednesday evening from 4th May 2016 through to the end of the summer term on 20th July, from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. This is a joint event with Maidenhead Sea Scouts. If very young and a complete novice (without RYA Stage 1 or equivalent) then we strongly recommend that you attend one of the weekend training courses first (see below) – we are not yet in summer and conditions can be windy and off putting for little ones who’ve not been out on the water much before. Parents must be present or appoint someone to act in loco parentis (we have a form that needs to be completed beforehand). Please register and pay on arrival then go and get changed. At the first session we have to have up to date medical emergency contact details so there will be a form to fill in. It costs £4 (or £1 if you sail your own boat, must be insured). THAMES VALLEY CHALLENGE A team racing competition for youth sailors held each year around the Thames valley. This year the venue will be Reading Sailing Club on 2-July-2016! As well as Wednesday evening training (see above) there will be two full days worth of coaching in the May half term on 2nd and 3rd June 2016, organised jointly with Goring Sailing Club to prepare for what should be a fantastic day of racing at the Thames Challenge itself. Membership Fees for 2015 A joining fee is paid once only with the first year's subscription. ROCKLEY A group trip to Rockley Sailing (in Poole Harbour) for the weekend of the 15-17th September 2016. This is a repeat of the successful trips we have arranged over the past five years. This trip is open to Junior members at £139 per head, which includes basic accommodation, all meals (breakfast, packed lunches and dinner), RYA Instructors, safety boats and the use of a wide range of sailing dinghies and beach cats. £50 deposit to secure a place required by 8th June 2016.

SATURDAY SAILING The club runs Social Sailing on most Saturdays throughout the summer. There is a rescue boat on the water and the more experienced members are usually around to offer advice for those developing their skills.

AUTUMN 2016 Saturday 15th and 22nd October, 5th and 19th November December 3rd – Regatta We do ask that the children will have had some sailing previously and so are at RYA level 1 or 2 standard as it is cold and capsizing proves rather chilly and off putting. Parents will need to be present during the sailing session, or appoint another parent to act in loco-parentis for you. I will have forms on the day as you will need to complete one for 2016. To sail, your child will need the following: *       Wet/dry suits must be worn *       Warm clothing and *       Hat (possibly sailing gloves) *       Sailing boots (or old trainers with plastic food bags          to keeps socks dry) *       Buoyancy Aid (some are available at the club) *       Towel *       1 x changes of warm clothing in case they fall in! Costs Own boat (must be insured): £1 per session Club boat: £6 per session Times are 9.00am-2pm The session will run from 9.00am-2pm with boats on the water by 10.00 and off at 1pm.We will provide hot drinks and biscuits. The children can bring a packed lunch to eat at the club or go home. It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure the boat has been put away before leaving. As you can imagine we are dependant on volunteers to help with these sessions and so for parents staying who have powerboat experience or are willing to help this would be much appreciated. Especially if you could let me know when you can help over these dates.

Performance Sailing at Datchet A chance for our more experienced youth and juniors to try out high performance boats and the art of trapezing etc. – September 2016 (exact date to be confirmed - currently pencilled in for 1st October 2016).

Courses usually book up early. To secure a place, contact our senior instructor, John Williams. If you have any further questions, John is very happy to have a chat with you, so please call him on 0118 9733 981, 01344 414224 or email via the web site.Course Duration Dates
