LESSON 1 THE WORD OPERATING UNDER TWO LAWS

LESSON GOAL: I will understand how to overrule fear with

faithLESSON OVERVIEW:Speaking the Word of God can turn on the

law of the Spirit of Life. Satan is just concerned with putting fear in our hearts. Transform fear to faith, by sticking with the faith-filled Word. Let us strive to keep the fear level at its all time low by increasing our faith level through His Word. And Every time the fear kicks in, rebuke it with the Word.

MEMORY VERSE

2 Timothy 1 :7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind

STORYTELLING TIME!!!

A soccer ball and a music book -- two very different things that play an important part in a story about Katy, a girl about the age of some of you. Katy faced a very difficult decision. Many of her friends had signed up to play soccer. Katy liked to play soccer too, and she wanted to be with her friends, but she also liked to play the piano and had been taking piano lessons for a couple of years. Soccer practice was at the same time as her piano lesson and playing soccer would take away from the time she needed to practice the piano. There was no way she could do both.

What should she do? Should she quit piano and play soccer with her friends, or should she finish what she had started and continue with her piano lessons? Finally, Katy came up with an idea. She sat down with a sheet of paper and drew a line down the center of the page. At the top of the page on one side of the line she wrote, "Piano." On the other side of the line she wrote, "Soccer." Below the word soccer, she wrote all of the advantages of playing soccer with her friends. Below the word piano, she wrote all of the advantages of being able to play the piano.

After she had considered all of the advantages and disadvantages of each choice, Katy made her decision. She decided to continue her piano lessons. After all, she could still see her friends at school, and playing the piano was something that she would enjoy for the rest of her life.

We all face important decisions in life. The most important decision we face is whether we will follow Jesus or not. Perhaps you might say, "Oh, that is an easy decision. Of course I will follow Jesus," but Jesus warned that it isn't always easy to follow him. He said that we should sit down and count the cost. Will we choose to follow him if it means giving up friends who are making bad choices? Will we choose to follow him if it means moving to a far away place and leaving our family behind? Will we choose to follow him if it means we will never live in a big house or drive a fancy car?

TRACE WITH YOUR FINGER AND HELP THE CHILDREN FOLLOW JESUS

Jesus said, "Anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple." Where did Jesus carry his cross? He carried it to Calvary. It was on that cross that Jesus gave his life so that you and I could have everlasting life. When we choose to carry our cross, it means that we are willing to give up everything to follow Jesus. It is a choice we have to make.

Dear Jesus, we thank you for being willing to carry your cross to Calvary. Help us to make the choice to take our cross and follow you. Amen.

I. The Word Operating Under Two Laws

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

“I AM IN CHRIST!!! I AM FREE FROM SIN AND DEATH”

Understand that Satan does things in the exact opposite of

GOD

GOD

LIFE

LOVE

FAITH

SATAN

SIN AND DEATH

SELFISHNESS

FEAR

There are only two kinds of law operating on planet earth:

Which one do you turn ON?

THE CHOICE IS ACTUALLY YOURS!!!

You are actually responsible to turn on

one of these two Laws.

Therefore, nothing just “HAPPENS”

Law of the Spirit of Life

Law of Sin

and Death

How do you turn on the Law?By speaking out the Word: The

Word of Life or the Word of Death.

Activation begins the minute you speak the Word.

The Power of Death and The Power of Life (The Law of Sin and Death and the Law of the Spirit of Life) is in the tongue.

Whose tongue? Yours!

Prov. 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

The Power of Death is not with the Devil.

He had the power of Death until Christ took that away from him.

Hebrews 2:14 “ Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,”

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

It’s important to ‘Watch your Words’.

Your Words will set your life’s course.We live in a ‘Word’ Planet everything happens by what we say

Begin to speak out those things that He has spoken

to you.

Because when you begin to speak out His Word, peace will come to you. That’s how you overcome this world full of tribulation

1 Kings 19:1 Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, "May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.“ 3 Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, 4 while he himself went a day's journey into the desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, LORD," he said. "Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors." 5 Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep.

LET’S SYNTHESIZEJezebel sent a message to Elijah.

She did not send Megatron, or the Terminator

to Elijah. She just sent….

a message – a message of words!!!

What kinds of messages or words are being sent to you?

FAITH WORDS OR FEAR WORDS???

How exactly does this message of fear begin to take effect in your life?

When you receive it and begin to speak it out.

II. The Word in Fear

The enemy’s job is to always steal the Word from you.

When he can steal the Word he can inject fear into your life.

When God tells you to ‘Fear Not’, don’t you think He will equip you and give you the tools necessary to overcome that fear? God said ‘Fear Not in his Word 360 times.

OF GOD

Isaiah 43:1-2 1 But now, thus says the LORD,

who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “ Fear

not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are

Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And

through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk

through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch

you.

Job operated on the Law of Sin

and Death.Job 3:25 “for the thing I

greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me.”

Job 3:25 For the thing I greatly had faith in has come upon me, and what I believed has happened to me.

Job spoke out his fear and therefore what he said or spoke came to pass in his life.

In the same way, you speak out your fear; you can also speak out your faith.

Read the same verse replacing the word ‘Fear’ with ‘Faith’.

The same works with Faith. We need to make it a point that fear does not grab a hold of our hearts! Why? Because fear will TRAP you.

TRSUTING THE LORD VERSUS FEAR

Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.

Proverbs 29:25 (AMP) The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever leans on, trusts in, and puts his confidence in the Lord is safe and set on high.

Proverbs 29:25 (The Message) The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that.

Psalm 45:1 My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

Faith or FearYou write it in your heart the minute you speak it out.

Fear attacks you from the outside, while Faith encourages you from the inside.

III. The Word in Levels

Why is it difficult for someone to believe God’s Word? He can’t believe God for healing, for prosperity, for deliverance.

Answer: When your WORD

LEVEL is low, your FAITH LEVEL is low.

Therefore, your FEAR LEVEL will be

high.

WORD/FAITH GAUGE

For me to increase my faith level I need to increase my Word level.

When I read and meditate on the Word, my faith level begins to increase and that automatically decreases my fear level.

FEAR FISHING:

Teacher can have plastic fish cut from milk cartons prepared before class. The back of each fish can be spray painted. Each fish can have a different word printed on it for "reasons" that we have fear. Use washable markers. Prepare a dowel "fishing pole" for each child. Put a paper clip on each fish and a magnet on the string from the "fishing pole". Let children go fishing with fish behind a board or in a bucket, etc. After church have "fished" for their fish and have read the word off their fish for reasons for being afraid (such as darkness, new class, loud noises, thunder, etc), children can be encouraged to THROW their fish into a bucket of water. The words will disappear because of the washable markers and their fear will also disappear when they trust Jesus!!

IV. The Word of Fear Rebuked

Replace the Words of Death spoken over you with Words of

Life. This is how we take captive those

thoughts or strongholds in our

life.

To rebuke: is to reprove, to reproof or to correct. To rebuke is to correct what was spoken over you with the Word of God. To replace “Death” words with “Life” words. So, to rebuke fear is to correct fear’s statement with the Word of God.

EXAMPLES

Example: Friends say ‘you’ll never prosper’ - The rebuke/correction is replacing what was said with God’s Word: “I rebuke poverty and lack over my life because my God said...Phil.4:13 - My God will meet all my needs according to his riches in Glory.”

Example: Doctor says you’re sick – Rebuke / Correction is: “I rebuke sickness and disease because His word says, “By His Stripes I am healed.”

Example: People say you’ll never make it. - Rebuke/Correction is: “I rebuke failure in my life because the Word says, ‘I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.’”

STRONGHOLDS ARE THOUGHTS

WHAT SHALL I EAT? WILL I DIE?

WHAT SHALL I WEAR?

I AM NOT RICH

WHAT IF I AM SICK?

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO ME?

I AM NOT LIKE HIM

TOMORROW?

WHY ME?

Our choice: A thought of Fear, or a thought of Faith.

HOW CAN OUR THOUGHTS BE OURS???

When we speak it out, a force is released to now create those words you just declared

Matthew 6: 31 (KJV) Therefore take no thought, saying,What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

2 Cor. 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Strongholds are thoughts.

THINK ABOUT CHRIST!!! HE ALREADY PAID IT ALL!!!

THOUGHTS BECOMES THINGS

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
