X-Link vinyl acrylic latices are completely self-reacting. They crosslink in a three dimensional network... require no thermosetting resins.

Films of the X-Link resins show improved resistance to water, solvent, creep, and heat. These properties result from the three dimensional network that is set up during the curing process. A wide range of X-Links are available with film flexibility ranging from very hard to extremely soft and tacky.

Their small particle size, mechanical stability and high pigment binding capacity make them ideally suited for many applications, and they have been successfully field tested as coatings, binders and saturants. For example, in exterior coatings they have demonstrated superior durability and adhesion; in non-woven fabrics they have produced excellent washfastness and dry cleaning resistance; as paper saturants they have provided greater versatility in balancing necessary end properties such as wet tensile, stiffness and tear strength.

These are just a few of the many industrial uses for X-Link resins that result from the unusual combination of properties the X-Link family exhibits.

X-Link resins are easy to use As supplied, X-Link resins are low

viscosity latices that dry to clear films. The pH of the latices is approximately 4-5. The crosslinking reaction is not initiated until the film dries. This gives an added advantage of a package stable latex.

As would be expected, heat and/or catalyst accelerates the crosslinking process.

The homogeneous film forms a three dimensional network of molecules bound to one another by chemical bonds rather than just a loosely knit arrangement of crosslinked particles.

The inherent range of flexibilities available in the X-Link resin series is transferred to the final product; in other words, the soft varieties will impart good drape and soft hand to non-woven fabrics or textile finishes. The harder X-Link resins can be used to produce rigid and semi-rigid products.
