The crackle of leaves under your feet and feelingthat first cool breeze against your face ushers in theglorious autumn season of football games, fall foliageand comforting baked goods.
Fruit crisps are simple baked desserts perfect forfamily gatherings or a casual dinner. Apples are themost popular ingredient for crisps and are a greatfruit for a crisp because they maintain their shapewithout turning into mush. Combine two or threevarieties such as Granny Smith, Golden Deliciousor Gala for a tasty combination of flavors.
Fall Fruit Crisp with Berries combines appleswith two other seasonal favorites – pears andplums, and fresh or frozen blackberries for a warm, satisfying and flavorful crisp. The crumbledtopping is made with White Lily® Self-RisingFlour, butter, and white and brown sugars mixedtogether to resemble coarse bread crumbs.
'It's important to balance the right amount ofcrumbs with fruit so that the filling will not seepthrough the topping,' explains baking expert Dede
Fuson. 'When removed from the oven, these toppingsare wonderfully crisp and crumbly. Don't forget to adda dollop of ice cream!'
For more fall recipes, please visitwww.whitelily.com.
