Who are they? They are members of the congre-
gation. They have been called “The Alter
Guild”. A “Sacristan” can be a man or a
woman. They do the ministry of preparing the
alter, making sure the wine and wafers are
placed appropriately, arranging flowers, chang-
ing banner and seasonal colors. After Commun-
ion, they make sure the wine, wafers, and Com-
munion ware are properly cleaned and stored.

Many thanks to all who helped decorate the church for Lent. Purple is typically associated with Lent, suggesting repentance and solemnity.
All are welcome to join us during our next meeting.

Counter's
Many thanks to Edith Sisson and Carol Payne who have graciously volun-teered to be trained to assist with the counting duties. But even bigger shout out to June and Charlie Berry; who continue to fulfill the counter duties and make the weekly bank deposits.
Financial Corner
Being a disciple of Jesus Christ means giving of one’s self faithfully and regularly. Our charitable donations help Spirit of Life carry out our mission of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, by feeding the needy and strength-ening our faith and commitment to Jesus Christ. If you embrace technology you can easily make your offering electronically. Through your banking institute, you can set up a one time or reoccurring bill payment to Spirit of Life Lutheran Church. Our routing and account information is available in the Narthex. If you’re worried about when the offering plate is passed around and that you don't have anything to place in it. Don't fret; we have electronic "giving cards" that can be placed in the offering plate. If you have any questions or need assistance please don't hesitate to call or text: Vonda Miller, Treasurer @ 904-483-7948.

God’s Global Barnyard
Remember “Buck A Chick” last year where we collected money to buy
chicks? This year we will be buying pigs. One pig is $30 so we will be
doing “Sharing A Pig” for $1 or feel free to buy a whole pig.
A pig in the pen is money in the bank! A piglet is a perfect financial
investment for many people around the world. That’s because within
months this little piglet can grow to nearly 200 pounds and grab a great
price at the market. Should a family have a failed harvest, medical
expense or other unexpected need, this gift can be cashed in to make all
the difference.
Easter Baskets
Easter baskets are starting to appear in the Narthex. Check them out so
you know which one(s) you are going to bid on.
All are welcome to join us.

March 19th (Sat.) – Spring Fling
April 1st – April 3rd – River Rat Ramble
First of all I would like to thank everyone for buying and donating
to our Meatball Sub sale. We made and sold enough to collect $465 to al-
low our kids to go to River Rat Ramble and maybe have some left over for
other activities. Thank you to everyone that donated cheese, bread, meat-
balls and sauce and of course your time. And of course our Youth did a
wonderful job of making and serving the subs, you’re a GREAT bunch of
kids!!
Speaking of our kids, the middle/high school Youth group has a
new name! They will be called the “That” church Youth Group. The
name comes from our youth’s previous experiences at the River Rat Ram-
ble and was unanimously voted on by the youth. We are currently meeting
on Sundays at 6:00 pm and have had 9 -12 meet with us for the first few
meetings. We start of our meeting with a short bible lesson, then a short
activity and lastly will be working on the upcoming Spring Fling. The
Youth will be in charge of coming up with the games, setting them up and
running them. They will also set up and run the Easter Egg hunt and will
be selling raffle tickets for our raffle prizes. We are also going to have Gary Minar’s Boy Scout group to
help us set-up and run the games. So if you are in middle or high school, please join us on Sunday’s and
also on Sat. March 19th for the Spring Fling, we can sure use the help!!
Also for the Younger ones, please continue to stay between services for “It’s Elementary” with Bob.
We’ve had some really good groups of kids join him and they seem to have a ball!! Please pay attention to
our bulletins and announcements for the days that we don’t have them, because Bob and Donna have been
really busy with their new grandchildren!!
Thank you for your support and God bless,
Curtis Haugen

Food Pantry
February has been another milestone month for the Food Pantry. Our numbers continue to increase. Due to the changes in the SNAP (Supplemental Nutri-tion Assistance Program), many of our clients are experiencing severe food stress. Fortunately, we are able to step in and help them stretch their food budget by providing some necessities for their families. Our friends at LSS (Lutheran Social Services) donated to us several thousand dollars in paper goods; from bags to toilet tissue and everything in between. This has enabled us to cascade these paper goods to our clients, which is a blessing because they can spend more of their budget on food. LSS has also been very creative in finding sources of produce and other differ-ent food items. Did you notice the big yellow bin of red potatoes or the 1,200 pumpkin rolls? They were donated to us by LSS, and we in turn gave them to our clients. Nothing went to waste! This month we were able to use some of our grant money to purchase a used freezer and a used refrigerator/freezer. This enables us to purchase deeply dis-counted meat at Feeding Northeast Florida and have the ability to store it in be-tween distributions. As we grow the Food Pantry, we have several opportunities ahead. We have been asked to sit for an interview with Feeding Northeast Florida. We are also in the process of applying for a grant from “Together in Mission”. We are look-ing into some public service grants as well, and are working on slightly restruc-turing how we report to Leadership. Finally, we plan to have periodic “Town Hall” meetings to keep the congregation up to date on our efforts. As always, I want to thank the crew that works at the distributions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and well as everyone who drops everything at a minute’s no-tice to unload a truck or help stack items away. The Food Pantry would not be possible without your efforts. We are always looking for new faces to help on distribution days! It's a lot of work but you get to meet our clients and see firsthand how important our out-reach is in our community! Please keep your food donations coming! We do get some food from the USDA and purchase some food from “Feeding North-East Florida”, but the reality of the situation is that we will always depend on the congregation to help fill in the gaps. Weekly needs are printed in the Pink Sheet. Monetary donations are always welcomed too. A little money goes a long way purchasing from Feeding Northeast Florida.
Yours in Christ. PAX Steve Carlson
