The event wasorganized by Sangat DevelopmentFoundation, with coordination ofSindh Wildlife Department andIndus for All programme, WWFPakistan.</p><p>The local community was holdingplacards and banners inscribed withenvironment and wetlandsprotection and rehabilitationslogans. They were also chantingslogans for an immediate stoppageof deforestation on wetlands of DehAkro-II and its surroundings, which</p><p>have played havoc with localenvironment. According to them dueto massive deforestation from DehAkro-II area and its wetlands, whichhas resulted into major climatechange in the area.</p><p>Due to climate change as well aswater shortage in the wetlands,largely depleted local plant speciesfrom the area. However, the</p><p>disastrous impact is on the faunaspecies of wildlife sanctuary of DehAkro-II. The fauna species of DehAkro-II wetlands either died downor left the area due to unexpectedand sudden climate changes and hotweather.</p></li><li><p>8/9/2019 World Environment Day 2010</p><p> 3/5</p><p>The local community representativesdemanded early rehabilitationactions in order to save the wildlifeand other local rare species fromdying from wetlands.</p><p>While speaking on the occasion, Mr.Salih Billo, Senior Journalist andSocial Activist said that the theme ofthe year Many Species. OnePlanet. One Future. Is a timely callfrom the international communityfor the conservation of biodiversityand preservation of natures identity.</p><p>He further added that thedestruction of natural resources istantamount to destroying the humanlife from the planet. The earth planetis hosting biodiversity, and that isthe beauty of it. If we would bentupon destroying one or other, itwould have multiple ill effects on theover all species of the planet.Therefore, we should make collectiveand unified efforts for the protection</p><p>of biodiversity from unbridled lustof anti environment people.</p><p>Mr. Nisar A. Brohi, Director SangatDevelopment Foundation saidnatural resources degradation andglobal warming are seriousburgeoning threats to humanpopulation. Which require urgentand emergent efforts to be tackled on</p><p>the war-footing in order to save thefuture of living beings on earth.</p><p>The gathering was also addressed byMr. Hussain Bux Dahri, GhulamMustafa, Rauf Samon, presidentPress club Jamsahib.</p></li><li><p>8/9/2019 World Environment Day 2010</p><p> 4/5</p><p>Participation inNature Festival 2010 byIndus for All Programme,</p><p>WWF -Pakistan,</p><p>On the eve of World EnvironmentDay 2010, Indus for All Programme,WWF Pakistan organized an eventtitled Nature Festival 2010 inNawabshah in order to mark WorldEnvironment Day 2010 in a befittingmanner. The local government andnon government organizations andschools were invited for stall anddisplay their publication and workand also play other performances.</p><p>Sangat Development Foundation hasestablished stall in the Naturefestival 2010 and displayed itsawareness material published onenvironment and wetlandsimportance and conservation,especially focusing on Deh Akro-IIwetlands rehabilitation efforts and</p><p>indigenous community based role incommunity based wetlandsmanagement.The participants of the naturefestival took keen interest in thematerial i.e. brochure, poster andpamphlets etc which were placed onthe stall, especially women andchildren. They well received themessage of Sangat Development</p><p>Foundation on Community basedWetland Management, andexpressed their full commitment todisseminate the information onwetlands importance andconservation at all levels and alsowould join efforts for wetlandsrehabilitation.</p></li><li><p>8/9/2019 World Environment Day 2010</p><p> 5/5</p><p>While visiting the stall, Chief Guestof the program, Vice Chancellor ofQauid-e-Awam University of Scienceand Technology (Quest) Mr. WahidBux Soomro highly appreciated the</p><p>efforts of Sangat DevelopmentFoundation for the wetlandsrehabilitation and conservation ofbiodiversity in Deh Akro-IINawabshah.</p><p>He further said that the publishedmaterial of Sangat DevelopmentFoundation for the awareness of thepeople on the importance of the</p><p>wetlands and their biodiversitywould have far reaching effects onthe community and would also helpthe common man in understandingthe issues and problems of thewetlands.</p><p>He also expressed his all possiblesupport for wetlands rehabilitationof Deh Akro-II.</p><p>Mr. Rasheed Ahmed Zardari,Executive District Officer (EDO),Revenue also visited the stall andpraised the efforts of Sangat team forwetlands community basedmanagement efforts and protectionand rehabilitation of biodiversity.</p><p>He further said that SangatDevelopment Foundation effortswould go long way for the effective</p><p>and proper wetland management inDeh Akro-II and would certainlyrevive and revitalize wetland andtheir biodiversity in the area.</p><p>He also appreciated the publishedmaterial on wetlands importanceand biodiversity.</p></li></ul>
