Lesson Plan ExampleAssignment:

Step 1) Review Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory of Development. Review Freud’s Psychosexual Theory of Development. Be prepared to compare/contrast these two theories in discussion question number one. Then, identify which of Erickson’s stages currently defines you.

Step 2) Write one paragraph explaining why Erickson’s definition of that stage does or does not adequately describe you, provide an example. Note: Age is not sufficient as an explanation. Identify an incident/event in your own life that demonstrates each of the earlier stages, ones in which you have already passed through. Write one paragraph per event/stage correlating the events to Erikson’s stage theory. Example: Trust vs. Mistrust – What specific event occurred in your life that helped you develop trust or mistrust? You may need to ask a relative about specifics.

Step 3) Identify a person you know well that can give you insight into each of the stages you will be going through later. Example: Ego Integrity vs. Despair – Is this person feeling they had a fulfilling life, or does he or she have advice to offer you in preparing for future stages? What if anything, would he or she have done differently given a second chance?

Step 4) For both activities, give examples that validate being in that stage. Scan and upload pictures of yourself in each of your stages, and pictures of the other person in each of the stages in which you will be going through later. Be creative. Make a collage, use PowerPoint to demonstrate, let your self-expression flow.

NOTE: Make sure you have an example-summary of the event(s) in each of the eight stages of how that stage correlates to you and/or the other person. With eight stages, you will have eight paragraphs minimum. The final paper should be 3-4 pages minimum in length.

Include at least one citation per paragraph from a reference NOT authored by Erickson.
