It belongs to the new chemistry group of insecticide. Spirotetramat is a new

systemic foliar insecticide belonging to the ketoenol group and, within this group, to the

tetramic acid chemical class that will offer growers a highly effective tool for managing a

broad range of sucking insect pests. The product has a unique mode of action classified as

a Lipid Biosynthesis Inhibitor (LBI) and is active by ingestion against immature insects

feeding on treated plants. In addition, studies have shown significant impact on exposed

female adults by reducing fecundity and survival of offspring. After having ingested

spirotetramat, juvenile stages of insects such as aphids, white-flies cannot moult properly

and die within 2 to 5 days. The speed of lethal effect is variable, depending on the life

stages or on external parameters. Spirotetramat can also drastically reduce the number of

viable larvae deposited by adult aphids. Spirotetramat is most effective when applied as

a preventive or threshold treatment. No other equivalent product is already standardized
