Install a 3/4” forstner bit in the drill press. Center the bit over the handle center mark. Bore a 3/8” deep hole in each end piece.

Use a band saw or jigsaw to cut out the ends. Cut slightly outside the layout lines and then sand up to the lines.

Clamp the handle and bottom between the two ends. Apply glue along the edge of the ends and bottom.

Clamp the side to the ends and bottom. Drive 1-1/2” fi nish nails to secure the side. Predrill a 1/32” dia. hole for each nail to prevent splitting.

Finish the tote with your choice of top-coats. You can use a natural fi nish, stain, or paint. In this case, we painted the tote and masked off the handle to leave it natural.

Cut the ends, sides, bottom, and handle to size. Mark the center of the handle position and the layout of the ends.
