What is the Friendship Circle of Washington?Founded in 2004, The Friendship Circle of Washington creates an inclusive, loving community that embraces families and children with special needs. Inspired by the idea that every person is unique and deserves unconditional love and acceptance, the Friendship Circle offers a variety of educational, therapeutic and fun programs for both children with special needs and their families. The Friendship Circle offers a truly unique social integration model as children with special needs are paired with typical teen volunteers for mutual benefit. Through these friendships, the teens grow into compassionate and socially responsible citizens while our children gain confidence and a sense of well-being. The agency is currently serving 734 children and families throughout greater Seattle.
About Walk With FriendshipIn 2009, Friendship Circle hosted its first Walk With Friendship to bring awareness to disability inclusion. Now, in its eighth year, The Walk With Friendship is an annual walk and celebration which brings together hundreds of families, local businesses, high schools, non-profits, and major corporations. The annual 1K Walk/5K Run is followed by a community day with entertainment, music, food, and prizes. It is free to the public and celebrates the culmination of teams raising money to support The Friendship Circle of Washington’s year-round programing. The event is open to individuals, community groups, corporate teams, and local businesses.
