CONNECTIONS TO BE MADE (LD-BX-AU1 APPLICATIONS)

Attention! This interface will work with models that are equipped with or without a Bose ampli-fier. Please follow the instructions carefully for your model vehicle. Failure to do so will result in improper sound. If you are unsure if your vehicle is equipped with a Bose amplifier or not, please contact your local dealership.

For models equipped with a Bose sound system:

From the 16-pin harness with stripped leads to the aftermarket radio:

• Connect the Red wire to the accessory wire.

• Connect the Orange wire to the illumination wire. If the aftermarket radio does not have an illumination wire, tape off and disregard the Orange wire.

• Connect the Blue/White wire to the amp turn on wire. This wire must be connected to hear sound from the factory amplifier.

Note: There is a Blue wire on the LD-BX-AU1 harness to connect as well.

The following (2) wires are for multimedia/navigation radios that require these wires. If not required, tape them off and disregard them.

• Connect the Green/Purple wire to the reverse wire.

• Connect the Light Green wire to the parking brake wire.

• Tape off and disregard the following (9) wires, they will not be used in this application: Blue/Pink, Green, Green/Black, Purple, Purple/Black, White, White/Black, Gray and Gray/Black.

From the LD-BX-AU1 harness to the aftermarket radio:

• Connect both the Black and Black/White wires to the ground wire.

• Connect the Yellow wire to the battery wire.

• Connect the Blue wire to the amp turn on wire. This wire must be connected to hear sound from the factory amplifier.

The following (1) wire is for a multimedia/navigation radio that requires this wire. If not required, tape it off and disregard it.

• Connect the Blue/Pink wire to the speed sense wire (V.S.S.), if applicable.

• Connect the White RCA jack to the left front RCA output.

• Connect the Gray RCA jack to the right front RCA output

• Connect the Green RCA jack to the left rear RCA output.

• Connect the Purple RCA jack to the right rear RCA output.

Note: It is highly recommended that the radio being used has (2) sets of RCA outputs to retain balance and fade; (3) sets if a subwoofer amplifier will be added.

• Tape off and disregard the following (8) wires, they will not be used in this application: Green, Green/Black, Purple, Purple/Black, White, White/Black, Gray, and Gray/Black.

3.5mm jack steering wheel control retention: • The 3.5mm jack is to be used to retain audio controls on the steering wheel.

• For the radios listed below, connect the included female 3.5mm connector with stripped leads, to the male 3.5mm SWC jack from the LD-BX-AU1 or LD-BX-AU2 harness. Any remaining wires tape off and disregard.

• Eclipse: Connect the steering wheel control wire, normally Brown, to the Brown/White wire of the connector. Then connect the remaining steering wheel control wire, normally Brown/White, to the Brown wire of the connector.

• Metra OE: Connect the steering wheel control Key 1 wire (Gray) to the Brown wire.

• Kenwood or select JVC with a steering wheel control wire: Connect the Blue/Yellow wire to the Brown wire.

Note: If your Kenwood radio auto detects as a JVC, manually set the radio type to Kenwood. See the instructions under changing radio type.

• XITE: Connect the steering wheel control SWC-2 wire from the radio to the Brown wire.

• Parrot Asteroid Smart or Tablet: Connect the 3.5mm jack into the AX-SWC-PARROT (sold separately), and then connect the 4-pin connector from the AX-SWC-PARROT into the radio.

Note: The radio must be updated to rev. 2.1.4 or higher software.

• Universal “2 or 3 wire” radio: Connect the steering wheel control wire, referred to as Key-A or SWC-1, to the Brown wire of the connector. Then connect the remaining steering wheel control wire, referred to as Key-B or SWC-2, to the Brown/White wire of the connector. If the radio comes with a third wire for ground, disregard this wire.

Note: After the interface has been programmed to the vehicle, refer to the manual provided with the radio for assigning the SWC buttons. Contact the radio manufacturer for more information.

• For all other radios: Connect the 3.5mm jack from the LD-BX-AU1 or LD-BX-AU2 harness, into the jack on the aftermarket radio designated for an external steering wheel control interface. Please refer to the aftermarket radios manual if in doubt as to where the 3.5mm jack goes to.

CONNECTIONS TO BE MADE (CONT) INSTALLING THE AX-AU12-SWC

With the key in the off position:

• Connect the 16-pin harness with stripped leads, and either the LD-BX-AU1 or LD-BX-AU2 harness, into the interface.

• Connect either the LD-BX-AU1 or LD-BX-AU2 harness, to the wiring harness into the vehicle.

Note: If retaining steering wheel controls, ensure the jack/wire is connected before proceeding onto the next step.

• For the steps below, the Red L.E.D. (located inside the interface, next to the potentiometer) can only be seen while active. The interface does not need to be opened to see the L.E.D.

• Turn the key (or push-to-start button) to the ignition position, the L.E.D. will turn on. • Within a minute, the L.E.D. will turn off for a couple seconds, then flash slowly (up to (18) times,

indicating which radio is connected to the interface), and then turn off. Pay close attention as to how many slow flashes there are. This will help in troubleshooting, if need be. Refer to the L.E.D. feedback section for more information.

• Within a few seconds the L.E.D. will turn on, and the radio will turn off. • Within a minute the L.E.D. will turn off, and the radio will come back on, indicating the

initialization process is successful. Note: If the radio does not come back on within a minute, the interface is not communicating to

the vehicle. Turn the key off, check all connections, and then try again. The interface may need to be reset at this point.

• If the vehicle has engine noise after installing the AX-AU12-SWC, use Axxess part number AX-AGL610, qty. (2) for Bose, qty. (1) for non-Bose.

STEERING WHEEL CONTROL SETTINGS

Changing radio type

If the LED flashes do not match the radio you have connected, you must manually program the AX-AU12-SWC to tell it what radio it is connected to.

1. After (3) seconds of turning the key on, press and hold the Volume-Down button on the steering wheel until the L.E.D. in the AX-AU12-SWC goes solid.

2. Release the Volume-Down button; the L.E.D. will go out indicating we are now in Changing Radio Type mode.

3. Refer to the Radio Legend (next page) to know which radio number you would like to have programmed.

4. Press and hold the Volume-Up button until the L.E.D. goes solid, and then release. Repeat this step for the desired radio number you have selected.

5. Once the desired radio number has been selected, press and hold the Volume-Down button on the steering wheel until the L.E.D. goes solid. The L.E.D. will remain on for about (3) seconds while it stores the new radio information.

6. Once the L.E.D. goes off, the Changing Radio Type mode will then end. You can now test the steering control wheel controls.

Note: If at any time the user fails to press any button for a period longer than (10) seconds, this process will abort.

Attention: The Axxess Updater App can also be used to program the following (3) sub-sections as well, pending that the interface has been initialized and programmed.

L.E.D. feedback

The (18) Red L.E.D. flashes represent what brand radio the AX-AU12-SWC believes it is connected to. Each flash represents a different radio manufacturer. For example, if you are installing a JVC radio, the AX-AU12-SWC will flash (5) times. Following is a legend that dictates which manufacturer corresponds to which flash.

* Note: If the AX-AU12-SWC flashes Red (7) times, and you do not have an Alpine radio connected to it, that means the AX-AU12-SWC does not detect a radio connected it. Verify that the 3.5mm jack is connected to the correct steering wheel jack/wire in the radio.

** Note: Part number AX-SWC-PARROT is required (sold separately). Also, the Parrot radio must be updated to rev. 2.1.4 or higher through www.parrot.com.

† Note: If you have a Clarion radio and the steering wheel controls do not work, change the radio type to the other Clarion radio type; same for Eclipse. The following section explains how to do this.

Remapping the steering wheel control buttons

Let’s say you have AX-AU12-SWC initialized and you want to change the button assignment for the steering wheel controls. For example, you would like “Seek-Up” to be “Mute”. Follow the steps below to remap the steering wheel control buttons:

1. Ensure the AX-AU12-SWC is visible so you can see the L.E.D. flashes to confirm button recognition.

Tip: Turning the radio off is recommended.

2. Within the first 20 seconds of turning the ignition on, press and hold the “Volume-Up” button on the steering wheel until the L.E.D. goes solid.

3. Release “Volume-Up”, the L.E.D. will then go out; “Volume-Up” has now been programmed.

4. Follow the list in the Button Assignment Legend, to reference the order in which the steering wheel control buttons need to be programmed.

Note: If the next function on the list is not on the steering wheel, press the Volume-Up button for (1) second until the L.E.D. comes on, and then release the Volume-Up button. This will tell the AX-AU12-SWC that this function is not available and it will move on to the next function.

5. To complete the remapping process, press and hold the Volume-Up button on the steering wheel until the L.E.D. in the AX-AU12-SWC goes out.

STEERING WHEEL CONTROL SETTINGS (CONT)




Dual assignment instructions (long button press)

The AX-AU12-SWC has the capability to assign (2) functions to a single button, except Volume-Up and Volume-Down. Follow the steps below to program the button(s) to your liking.

Note: Seek-Up and Seek-Down come pre-programmed as Preset-Up and Preset-Down for a long button press.

1. Turn on the ignition but do not start the vehicle.

2. Press and hold down the steering wheel control button that you want to assign a long press function to for about (10) seconds, or until the L.E.D. flashes rapidly. At this point release the button; the L.E.D. will then go solid.

3. Press and release the Volume-Up button the number of times corresponding to the new button number selected. Refer to the Dual Assignment Legend. The L.E.D. will flash rapidly while the Volume-Up button is being pressed, and then go back to a solid L.E.D. once released. Go to the next step once the Volume-Up button has been pressed the desired number of times.

Caution: If more than (10) seconds elapses between pressing the Volume-Up button, this procedure will abort, and the L.E.D. will go out.

4. To store the long press button in memory, press the button that you assigned a long press button to (the button held down in Step 2). The L.E.D. will now go off indicating the new information has been stored.

Note: These steps must be repeated for each button you would like to assign a dual purpose feature to. To reset a button back to its default state, repeat Step 1, and then press the Volume-Down button. The L.E.D. will go out, and the long press mapping for that button will be erased.

Resetting the AX-AU12-SWC

1. With the radio on, turn the potentiometer:

Note: Before proceeding, remember the position the potentiometer is at.

Turn left the LED will come on hold until the LED goes out

Turn right the LED will come on hold until the LED goes out

Turn back left the LED will come on hold until the LED goes out

Turn right the LED will come on hold until the LED goes out

Turn back left the LED will begin to flash rapidly

Turn back to the initial position

The rapid flash means the interface is starting its re-programming process.

2. The L.E.D. inside the interface will turn off for a couple seconds, then flash fast, then flash slowly (up to (18) times, indicating which radio is connected to the interface), and then turn off. Pay close attention as to how many slow flashes there are. This will help in troubleshooting, if need be. Refer to the L.E.D. feedback section for more information.

3. Within a few seconds the L.E.D. will turn on, and the radio will turn off.

4. Within a minute the L.E.D. will turn off, and the radio will come back on, indicating the resetting and initialization process was successful.

• Conecte los (2) cables rojos al cable de accesorios.

• Conecte los cables negro y negro/blanco al cable de tierra.

CONEXIONES QUE SE DEBEN HACER (CONT) INSTALACIÓN DEL AX-AU12-SWC

INICIALIZACIÓN DEL AX-AU12-SWC

RESOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS

Con la llave en la posición de apagado:

• Conecte el arnés de 16 pins con conectores pelados, y el arnés LD-BX-AU1 o LD-BX-AU2, a la interfase.

• Conecte el arnés de cables LD-BX-AU1 o LD-BX-AU2 al cableado en el vehículo.

Nota: Si va a retener los controles en el volante, asegure que el conector/cable esté conectado antes de proseguir con el siguiente paso.

• Para los siguientes pasos, el L.E.D. rojo (localizado dentro de la interfaz, a un lado del potenciómetro) solo se puede ver mientras está activo. La interfaz no necesita abrirse para ver el L.E.D.

• Gire la llave (o pulsar para botón de inicio) a la posición de encendido, el L.E.D se encenderá.

• En un plazo de un minuto, el L.E.D. se apagará durante un par de segundos, después parpadeará lentamente (hasta (18) veces, indicando qué radio está conectado a la interfaz), y después se apagará. Ponga atención al número de parpadeos lentos que hay. Esto le ayudará en la resolución de problemas, si es necesario. Consulte la sección de retroalimentación de L.E.D. para obtener más información.

• En unos pocos segundos el L.E.D. se encenderá, y el radio se apagará.

• En un minuto el L.E.D. se apagará, y el radio se encenderá de nuevo, indicando que el proceso de inicialización es exitoso.

Nota: Si el radio no se enciende de nuevo en un plazo de un minuto, la interfaz no se está comunicando con el vehículo. Apague la marcha, revise todas las conexiones y después inténtelo de nuevo. Es posible que tenga que restablecer la interfaz en este punto.

• Si el vehículo tiene ruido del motor después de instalar el AX-AU12-SWC, use el número de parte Axxess AX-AGL610, cant. (2) para Bose, cant. (1) si no es Bose.

Retención de control del volante jack de 3.5mm: • El conector de 3.5mm se debe usar para retener los controles de audio en el volante.

• Para los radios que se enumeran a continuación, conecte el conector hembra de 3.5 mm incluido con los cables pelados, al conector SWC macho de 3.5 mm del arnés LD-BX-AU1 o LD-BX-AU2. Cualquier cable restante graba y desprecia.

• Eclipse: Conecte el cable del control en el volante, normalmente marrón, al cable del conector marrón/blanco. Después conecte el cable restante del control en el volante, normalmente marrón/blanco, al cable del conector marrón.

• Equipo original Metra: Conecte el cable Clave 1 (gris) del control en el volante al cable marrón.

• Kenwood o JVC selectos con cable de control en el volante: Conecte el cable azul/amarillo al cable marrón.

Nota: Si su radio Kenwood se detecta automáticamente como JVC, ajuste manualmente el tipo de radio a Kenwood. Vea las instrucciones a continuación para cambiar el tipo de radio.

• XITE: Conecte el cable SWC-2 del control en el volante del radio al cable marrón.

• Parrot Asteroid Smart o Tablet: Conecte el conector de 3.5mm al AX-SWC-PARROT (se vende por separado), y después conecte el conector de 4 pins del AX-SWC-PARROT al radio.

Nota: El radio debe estar actualizado a la versión de software 2.1.4 o posterior.

• Universal “2 or 3 cable” de radio: Conecte el cable de control del volante, denominado Key-A o SWC-1, al hilo de marrón del conector. Luego conecte el cable de control del volante restante, denominado B-Key o SWC-2, al cable marrón/blanco del conector. Si la radio viene con un tercer cable de tierra, no tener en cuenta este cable.

Nota: Después de la interfase ha sido programado para el vehículo, consulte el manual suministrado con la radio para la asignación de los botones SWC. Póngase en contacto con el fabricante de radio para más información.

• Para todos los demás radios: Conecte el conector de 3.5mm del arnés LD-BX-AU1 o LD-BX-AU2 en el conector del radio de mercado secundario designado para una interfase externa de control en el volante. Consulte el manual del radio de mercado secundario si tiene dudas acerca de dónde debe ir el conector 3.5mm.

Cambio de tipo de radioSi el parpadeo del foco LED no corresponde al radio que tiene conectado, debe programar manualmente el AX-AU12-SWC para indicar a cuál radio está conectado.

1. Después de (3) segundos de haber encendido la marcha, presione y mantenga presionado el botón de Bajar volumen del volante hasta que el L.E.D. del AX-AU12-SWC deje de parpadear.

2. Suelte el botón de Bajar volumen; el L.E.D. se apagará indicando que ya estamos en el modo de Cambio de tipo de radio.

3. Consulte la Leyenda de radio (pagina siguiente) para saber qué número de radio desearía programar.

4. Presione y mantenga presionado el botón de “Subir volumen” hasta que el foco LED se ilumine sin parpadear, luego suelte. Repita este paso hasta llegar al número de radio que haya seleccionado.

5. Una vez que se haya seleccionado el número de radio deseado, presione y mantenga presionado el botón de Bajar volumen del volante hasta que el L.E.D. deje de parpadear. El L.E.D. permanecerá encendido aproximadamente (3) segundos mientras almacena la información del radio nuevo.

6. Una vez que el L.E.D. se apague, terminará el modo de Cambio de tipo de radio. Ahora puede probar los controles en el volante.

Nota: Si en cualquier momento el usuario no presiona ningún botón durante (10) segundos o más, este proceso se abortará.

Atención: La aplicación Axxess Updater también se puede usar para programar las siguientes (3) subsecciones también, hasta en tanto la interfase se haya inicializado y programado.

Retroalimentación con L.E.D.Los (18) parpadeos en rojo del foco L.E.D. representan la marca de radio que el AX-AU12-SWC cree que está conectada. Cada parpadeo representa un diferente fabricante de radio. Por ejemplo, si está instalando un radio JVC, el AX-AU12-SWC parpadeará rojo (5) veces, y luego se detiene. A continuación está la leyenda que dicta a qué fabricante pertenece cada parpadeo.

L.E.D. leyenda retroalimentación

* Nota: Si el AX-AU12-SWC parpadea rojo (7) veces y no tiene un radio Alpine conectado a él, esto significa que el AX-AU12-SWC no detectó ningún radio conectado. Verifique que el conector de 3.5mm esté conectado al conector/cable correcto del volante en el radio.

Remapeo de los botones del control en el volanteDigamos que tiene el AX-AU12-SWC inicializado y desea cambiar la asignación de botones para los controles en el volante. Por ejemplo, le gustaría que el botón de “Buscar siguiente” funcionara como “Silencio”. Siga estos pasos para remapear los botones del control en el volante:

1. Asegúrese que el AX-AU12-SWC esté visible para que se pueda ver el parpadeo del foco L.E.D. para confirmar el reconocimiento de los botones.

Asignación dual de instrucciones (presión de botones por largo tiempo)El AX-AU12-SWC tiene la capacidad de asignar (2) funciones a un solo botón, excepto “Subir volumen” y “Bajar volumen”. Siga los pasos que están a continuación para programar los botones según lo desee.

Nota: “Buscar siguiente” y “Buscar anterior” vienen pre-programados como “Subir preestablecido” y “Bajar preestablecido” cuando se presiona el botón por largo tiempo.

1. Encienda la ignición, pero no arranque el vehículo.

2. Presione y mantenga presionado el botón del control en el volante que desee asignar a una función de presionado de botón de tiempo más prolongado aproximadamente durante (10) segundo, o hasta que el L.E.D. parpadee rápidamente. En este momento, suelte el botón, el foco L.E.D. dejará de parpadear.

3. Presione y suelte el botón “Subir volumen” la cantidad de veces que correspondan al número nuevo del botón seleccionado. Consulte la Leyenda de asignación dual. El foco L.E.D. parpadeará rápidamente mientras el botón “Subir volumen” esté presionado, y dejará de parpadear una vez que se suelte. Vaya al siguiente paso una vez que el botón “Subir volumen” se haya presionado el número deseado de veces.

Precaución: Si pasan más de 10 segundos al presionar “Subir volumen”, este procedimiento se abortará, y el L.E.D. se apagará.

4. Para almacenar el botón de presión prolongada en la memoria, presione el botón que haya asignado a un botón de presión prolongada (el botón que dejó presionado en el Paso 2). El L.E.D. Se apagará ahora para indicar que la nueva información se ha almacenado.

Nota: Estos pasos se deben repetir para cada botón al que desee asignar una característica dual. Para restablecer un botón a su estado predeterminado, repita el Paso 1 y después presione el botón “Bajar volumen”.
