Winter 2016 Bonny Slope After School Classes

This class is designed to help K-2 students learn the basics of Speed, Agility and

Quickness (SAQ) Training while increasing body awareness and coordination.

We use SAQ Training to enhance sports performance in athletes of all sports,

2015-2016 After School Program:

Winter Session - Mondays: 3:10 – 4:10pm

Bricks 4 Kidz after-school classes deliver a high quality educational program where kids experience the hands-on fun of motorized and brick model construction using LEGO® bricks.

We Learn… Problem solving & critical thinking skills are developed while creativity and self-confidence are encouraged. Lessons teach S.T.E.M based concepts across a

variety of subjects like gear ratio, torque and friction, geography, space exploration, weather and MORE!

We Build… Classes are multi-age with 2 levels of builds for each class; a beginner model for K-2, and advanced model for Grades 3-5. Working with a partner, students

build a new model each week, from concept to completion.

We Play… Math & Science are applied to real world situations while architecture and engineering concepts are explored through challenges and creative free play.

Junior LEGO Robotics:

Adventure Stories, Amazing Mechanisms, Wild Animals, and Play Soccer

A robot is a device that is designed and programmed

to perform a task either autonomously or with hu-

man input. Robots typically come in two forms:

those resembling humans or role specific robots.

This class is a perfect mixture of fun and learning,

using LEGO WEDO Robots. In these classes, kids will

experience both the design and programming part

of being a robotics engineer.

About our head trainer: Spencer Rubin has coached and trained children of all ages over 15 years in various sports, including soccer and basketball. A Beaverton resident, Spencer, and his wife Betsy, have 3 kids in Beaverton Schools (Hiteon, Conestoga & Southridge). In addition to his athletic background, he has been in the radio broadcast industry for 24 years involving sales, management, team building and training!

SOCCER SHOTS POLICIES & AGREEMENTAttendance & Make-Ups: Class will be made up if it is missed due to holidays, weather, postpone-ment by Soccer Shots, etc. Up to two classes may be made up per season.

Agreement to Participate in Soccer Shots: Participation in all sports can be inherently dangerous and, regardless of the care taken to avoid injury, it is impossible to ensure the safety of all participating individuals. The game of soccer is no exception. In fact, soccer has many inherent dangers. It is a sport that demands cardiovascular fitness, coordination, and agility. Players may spend more than 45 minutes in intense physical activity and must be constantly aware of their surroundings (other players, goalposts, and the ball itself). Although soccer is not generally thought of as a contact sport, at competitive levels, it is. Although many risks can be avoided, some simply cannot.

While playing soccer, accidents do happen. Some of these accidents may be minor like collisions with other players, collisions with the ground, and being struck by the ball. Other accidents may be more significant like collisions with the goalposts.

Other injuries may also include:minor injuries like scrapes, bruises, strains, and sprains; more serious injuries liken broken bones, concussions, muscle tears, and ligament tears; catastrophic injuries like heat stroke, cardiac arrest, and death

To reduce the risk of injury, participants are expected to abide by the following rules:All participants are expected to be physically fit before Soccer Shots begins. All players must adhere to the rules of soccer, thus creating a safe playing environment. The above-mentioned participant agrees to follow the preceding safety rules, all posted safety rules, and all rules common to the sport of soccer. Further, the above-mentioned participant agrees to report any unsafe practices, conditions, or equipment to the Soccer Shots instructor.

I certify that the above-mentioned participant 1) possesses a sufficient degree of physical fitness to safely participate in soccer, 2) understands that he/she is to discontinue activity at any time he/she feels undue discomfort or stress, and 3) has indicated in the “Special Needs” section any

Waiver of Liability: In consideration of being permitted to play soccer, on behalf of myself, my family, my heirs, and my assigns, I hereby release Soccer Shots, its agents, and its employees from liability for injury, loss, or death to the above-mentioned participant while using any facility or equipment or in any way associated with participating in the activity of soccer now or in the future, resulting from the ordinary negligence of Soccer Shots, its agents and employees.

Refund Policy: Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance at a scheduled class. Refunds apply when the withdrawal of a student is requested by parent. Should Soccer Shots find it necessary to de-register a child, a refund will be issued after deduction for classes already attended.

Soccer Shots is insured and our instructors have cleared Oregon Childcare background checks.

Soccer Shots is a nationally recognized program

addition to soccer, we work on improving

children’s gross motor skills and teaching children

important concepts such as teamwork, sharing

and respect. Soccer Shots instructors are
