Winnie, like all lively puppies, loved to play!
She loved to
howl and growl
hide and slide.
She loved to snuffle with her wet nose, peep with her sparkling eyes and listenwith her eager ears.
But, unlike other young puppies,Winnie couldnt quite get the hangof wagging her tail.
Shed try herhardest to wag it,but usually herbottom justswayed in the air
and her tiny taildidnt wag at all.
Her mother told Winnienot to worry.Youll soon learn howto do it, she said gently. All puppies tails wageventually.
But Winnie wanted it to wag now!
Winnie wandered off grumpilythrough the farmyard, muttering to herself.
In the paddock shewatched as the horsesswwiisshheedd its tail.
I wish I couldswish my tail, she said.
But when she tried, her bottom justswayed and herlittle tail didntswish at all.
Puppies dontswish, they wag!laughed the horse.
Winnie wanderedon to the orchardand watched asthe donkeyttwwiirrlleedd its tail.
I wish I could twirl my tail, she said. But when she tried, her bottomjust swayed and her little taildidnt twirl at all.
Puppies dont twirl, they wag!chuckled the donkey.
