Halfway between Paris and Beaune, Chablis opens the golden gate to the vineyards of Burgundy
The Chablis vineyards are among the oldest in France. Over time and all over the world, its white wines, made from Chardonnay grapes, have acquired an extraordinary reputation. Situated on both sides of the river “Serein”, the vines of the appellation are spread over 17 communes. The uniqueness of the wines is due to the soil, essentially of the “Kimmeridgian” type, where sediments, composed notably of large quantities of small fossilised oysters “ostrea virgula”, have been deposited.
This exceptional soil, found only in very few places in the world, gives the terroir its minerality, fi nesse and incomparable crystalline tone.

La Chablisienne alone represents almost 25% of the vineyard and can offer all Chablis appellations (Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru, Chablis Grand Cru).
The Chablis cooperative winery, La Chablisienne, created in 1923, brings together nearly 300 wine growers to make the great white wines of Chablis.
These reflect the extreme care brought by its winegrowers to the cultivation of their vineyards combined with the passion of their winemakers. It is the subtle relationship between winegrowers and winemakers that gives its wines this much sought after distinction.
Each year, it produces approximately thirty different wines, each with a strong personality of its own, across the appellation: seven Grands Crus, thirteen Premiers Crus, Chablis and Petit Chablis.
Among its Grands Crus is the Château Grenouilles, the most prestigious of all, from the unique Château of the hill of Grands Crus.
